Two solid efforts prior to easily getting off the mark (with Swindon in second) at Chepstow recently, easing clear and not asked for everything. More to come and may be able to defy his opening mark.

Zoustar colt who looked a good prospect when winning a 12-runner Kempton novice (6f) on his debut in October and was far from disgraced when third at Newbury on reappearance a month ago. Makes handicap debut and he's still unexposed.

Doubled his tally at Salisbury in October, then shaped well when third in a Doncaster nursery later in the month. Has the scope for better this year and any rain would be in his favour.

Made the most of his experience to get off the mark in a Beverley maiden (7.4f, good to firm) in August, channelling his energy more efficiently. Has pulled too hard on both subsequent outings, though, and has a bit to prove.

Well backed and looked something out of the ordinary when an impressive 5½-length winner on her Newbury debut. Big ask in the 1000 Guineas next time but big chance he'll be back on track in a more realistic scenario.

18/1, creditable tenth of 19 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, good) 42 days ago. Others look better treated.

Blue Point colt who landed the odds with plenty to spare in 6f Wolverhampton maiden in October. Hasn't built on that since, however, so needs cheekpieces to perk him up.

Plenty to like about his 3 efforts at 2 and, while his reappearance at Newmarket was disappointing, he's had a break since and it's too soon to write him off.

Forecasts

Mount Teide (6/5), Swindon (5/1), Jarraaf (7/1), Grand Karat (8/1), Spanish Blaze (9/1), Star Style (9/1), Palmar Bay (11/1), Magsood (12/1), Gamekeeper (14/1), Robbo (16/1), Quatre Bras (18/1)

Verdict

MOUNT TEIDE ran well in a couple of strong races before readily opening his account at Chepstow last time, forging clear in the style of one who has more to offer, so he's worth a chance to defy a mark of 89. Star Style's run in the Guineas is best excused and she's a major player based on her impressive debut, while Jarraaf remains with potential on just his third outing.
