Promising novice chaser a couple of seasons back but proved something of a let-down in 3 appearances last term. On the upside, he resumes in this sphere on a potentially handy mark and has low mileage for a horse of his age.

6/1
Ready winner of a Bangor handicap on return last season and performed with credit when third in the same race on his reappearance this time round. Given a break since/eased 3 lb and couldn't rule out in a first-time tongue strap here, despite his advancing years.

Resurgent over hurdles during second half of last term, winning 3 on the bounce at around 2½m. Yet to hit top form this season but by no means disgraced at Ffos Las last time and he's dangerous to discount.

Modest overall strike rate but more good efforts than bad ones to his name, again acquitting himself well when ninth in a valuable 28-runner handicap chase at Leopardstown during the Christmas period. 8 lb lower back in this sphere for new yard and needs a second look.

Talented performer when on-song, as he proved when scoring at Sandown and going close at Cheltenham last term. However, he has offered little in 2 starts for his new yard so far this season and now has plenty to prove.

Scored over fences at Warwick in September and has remained in good form since, finding just one too good at Fontwell (21.6f, good to soft) last time. Good second on latest start in this sphere and he has to enter calculations.

11/4
Back on track returned to this sphere following a break, going close at Ludlow prior to decisive victories at Catterick and Ayr (both at around 2½m on good to soft). 4 lb rise for latest success looks very fair indeed and likely to make a bold bid to complete the hat-trick.

Age: 9|  Weight: 11-0| J: Ellis Collier(7)| T: Christian Williams| OR:  126
20/1
Grade 2 novice hurdle winner at Ascot in 2019 who ran best race for Harry Fry when runner-up in this race off a 5 lb higher mark 12 months ago. Didn't show much on return/debut for this yard at Ffos Las, though, and it's probably best to look elsewhere.

Winning hurdler/chaser for Henry de Bromhead in Ireland but, having changed hands for £18,000 in October, he ran no sort of a race on debut for new connections at Sandown a fortnight ago.

16/1
Dual-purpose performer who won on the Flat at Chepstow and in this sphere at Plumpton last spring. However, below par both starts over hurdles since returning to action in October and while he put in a decent shift on the Flat recently, others make more appeal.

Form took off when completing a hat-trick in autumn 2020. Lighly raced since but has shaped better than the distance beaten on both starts since returning from a year off in November and it would be no surprise were he to play a role in the finish here.

Back on track when landing a 3-runner handicap chase at Fontwell (21.6f, good) on debut for this yard in September. Not in the same form since, though, and probably worth taking on, for all that he return to this sphere on an attractive mark.

Forecasts

Lock's Corner (11/4), Vision Des Flos (5/1), Espoir De Romay (6/1), Hunters Call (6/1), Oscars Moonshine (7/1), Take All (10/1), Bold Plan (12/1), Thibault (16/1), Fakir (20/1), Master Debonair (20/1), Pileon (20/1), Tiger Voice (33/1)

Verdict

BOLD PLAN came good in the second half of last season and, having shaped as though working his way back to form when fifth at Ffos Las on his latest start, he is worth chancing in an open-looking handicap. The hat-trick seeking Lock's Corner is an obvious threat given that a 4 lb rise for his Ayr success is hardly excessive, while the veteran Hunters Call is one of several others with realistic claims.
