Coral Silviniaco Conti Chase (Grade 2) (GBB Race)

Landed a couple of big Cheltenham handicaps last term and got back to winning ways in 2-runner Grade 2 at Ascot (21f) in November by 10 lengths from Saint Calvados. This looks more competive, though.

Dual Grade 2-winning novice last term who ran right up to his best when taking 7-runner Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon (19.9f, good to soft) 41 days ago. Looks the one to beat on that form.

Classy chaser on his day and opened account for Paul Nicholls in Grade 2 at Sandown (22.8f, good) in April. Well below that level when beaten by Coole Cody in match at Ascot on return, however, and tried in first-time hood now.

Made up into a very smart chaser last season, scoring twice, most notably Greatwood Gold Cup at Newbury (19.9f) in March. Back to winning ways in decisive fashion over same C&D last time and holds solid claims here.

Won both his chase starts for Nicky Henderson at Ascot in 2019, showing smart form in process. Not seen since but holds Ryanair and Gold Cup entries so warrants plenty of respect on return/yard debut.

Progressed well in 2021, landing a pair of valuable handicaps and signing off with good second in Betway Bowl at Aintree. Not in same form either start last term, though, and has something to prove on belated return to action.
