Not the most consistent nowadays but back to his very best in first-time blinkers when winning Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster 5 weeks ago. This field will be a lot harder to dominate, however.

Veteran staying chaser who has a very good record at this track, resuming winning ways in the Borders National (32.4f) before following up in 4-runner handicap over C&D. Bit to find here, though.

Progressive sort who was set to go very close before falling 2 out in Aintree Grade 1 novice final start last term. Proved a let-down at Carlisle on return in October but well worth another chance.

Useful chaser who was back to form on just second start for this yard when just failing in Becher at Aintree. However, never competitive in Welsh National and remote fourth in Sky Bet at Doncaster.

Grade 1 novice winner over fences and creditable efforts with cheekpieces fitted this term, not beaten far in a smart field at Lingfield latest. Blinkers now tried, though stamina a slight concern.

Forecasts

Espoir De Romay (5/4), Itchy Feet (7/2), Big River (13/2), Windsor Avenue (7/1), Dingo Dollar (8/1), Nuts Well (18/1), Hill Sixteen (25/1)

Verdict

ESPOIR DE ROMAY hasn't been seen since a disappointing comeback run at Carlisle in October but he had Chantry House in trouble before falling 2 out in the Mildmay Novices' Chase at Aintree on his final start last season and a reproduction of that form would make him very much the one to beat. Dingo Dollar rates the main threat with stamina doubts surrounding Itchy Feet and Nuts Well.
