Was a warm order before a luckless defeat at Market Rasen 7 months ago, finishing with running left after being repeatedly short of room, so he's open to significant improvement on return.

Well-bred sort who, starting out for this yard, left his debut form well behind when landing a 13-runner event at Uttoxeter last month. Will need a more marked step forward if he's to feature in this.

Closely related to 2 winners and stepped up on his debut when opening his account at Sandown last month, finding plenty to lead late. Another step forward would put him right in the mix.

In good hands and shaped well amidst greenness when third in a bumper at Worcester a couple of months ago. Should have learned from that, so could improve markedly.

Flemensfirth gelding who made the ideal start when landing a Stratford bumper 7 months ago. Didn't have much to spare, though, and this is much tougher.

Half-brother to Enrilo and defied greenness to make a winning start at Chepstow, finding plenty to gradually draw clear in the straight. Looks stable first string, so may well go in again.

Half-brother to useful hurdler/high-class chaser Black Corton and looked a smart prospect himself when making a winning debut at Worcester a couple of months ago. Sure to improve.

£31,000 3-y-o, Getaway gelding. Dam, failed to complete in points, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/chaser (winner at around 2m) Are They Your Own and useful bumper winner Macbride.

Well-bred, in good hands, and made a positive start when second at Chepstow first time out, so one to note with improvement likely.

Milan gelding who has shown ability on both starts to date but appears to be out of his depth in this company.

Related to Flat winners but didn't show a great deal at Fontwell on debut 6 months ago. Looks firmly up against it.

Timeform
Promising debut when second at Fairyhouse (for Colm Murphy) and backed it up when filling the same position at Cheltenham on debut for this yard, albeit hanging his chance away late. Considered

Forecasts

Top Dog (9/4), Henri The Second (10/3), Estacas (4/1), Authorised Speed (11/2), Hugos New Horse (6/1), Benign Dictator (12/1), Buckhorn Rocco (14/1), Doyouknowwhatimean (16/1), Scarface (25/1), Dusky Days (28/1), Riskintheground (28/1), Onesteptwosteps (40/1), Star Path (125/1)

Verdict

HENRI THE SECOND looked an excellent prospect when making a successful debut at Chepstow in October and, with the benefit of experience, he's fancied to maintain his unbeaten record for all this looks a strong contest. The selection's stablemate Hugos New Horse is another one open to improvement, while Top Dog is also considered.

  1. HENRI THE SECOND (FR)
  2. HUGOS NEW HORSE (FR)
  3. TOP DOG (IRE)
