Promise in 3 runs for John M. Oxx at 2 yrs and put his experience to good use when winning 16-runner Navan maiden on return. More needed at this level but step up in trip will suit.

Placed in Group 2s at the Curragh/Newmarket as a 2-y-o and ran well over a trip that's probably on the short side for him in handicap at Newmarket on return. Step up in trip will suit and big player.

Verdict

ONTARIO was placed in a couple of Group 2s as a juvenile and shaped well when third under top weight in the European Free Handicap at Newmarket on his return. He looks ready for this step up in trip and can provide Aidan O'Brien with a ninth win in this. Yibir was a good third in a Group 3 at Sandown in his comeback and is likely to get the run of things, so rates the obvious threat.
