Second in Warwick bumper and made no mistake when landing an Ascot novice hurdle in October. Turned over twice at short odds since, but the sharp track was perhaps against him at Fakenham last time.

Verdict

THE MICK PRESTON made a successful switch to handicaps at Hereford in January and, with the timefigure supporting the performance, he makes quite a lot of appeal with this step up in trip sure to suit. Gladiateur Allen was below expectations thrown into a competitive handicap at Ascot last time, but there’s every chance he’ll have benefited from the experience. Karl Philippe is also interesting.
