Third foal from a maiden dam (5f-7f); trainer is yet to saddle a juvenile runner so far this season (29-723; 4% career); far safer to look elsewhere for the solution.
£40,000 yearling; closely related to Stake Acclaim (5f-6f); displayed plenty of early pace until weakening inside the final furlong on Newcastle debut (5f) - finished 2¾L fifth of 12 to Victory Heights; improvement possible.
£5,000 yearling; fourth foal from a moderate dam (sister to a winning juvenile); half-brother to the French 5½f-1m winner Star Of Paris; trainer is still seeking his first juvenile scorer (0-34 career).

€24,000 foal, £68,000 yearling; half-brother to the 7f AW winner Annie Quickstep; ran well on debut at Newcastle (6f) without ever threatening to bustle-up a Mark Johnston-trained winner (Thunder Of Niagara); sets the form standard.
Fifth foal from the Italian Listed (5f-6f) scorer Rebecca Rolfe; half-brother to the 5f Listed winner Rebecca Rocks and ticks a number of boxes as a result; Michael Scudamore is still seeking his first juvenile scorer (0-15 career).

€35,000 foal, 50,000gns yearling; 13th foal from the 6f juvenile scorer Ladylishandra; winning siblings include, Tropical Paradise (6f-7f, Grp 3), Harlem Shake (5f, Italian Grp 3) and Shenaningans (7f-1m2f, Listed); basic market check is advised.

Cable Bay filly; fifth foal from an unraced dam (sister to the 7f Listed winner Royal Confidence); cost £40,000 as a yearling and is a half-sister to two winners (Temple Of Heaven, 5f-6f and Circulate, 6½f); figures high on the shortlist.
£35,000 yearling; dam 5f-6f 2yo winner (inc Group 3), sister to 5f 2yo winner Alshaqee out of 5f-6f winning half-sister to leading sprinter Reverence; was taken out ahead of her intended debut at Lingfield (Monday).

Forecasts

Rebel At Dawn (10/11), Emirati Dirham (9/4), Bay Of Whispers (6/1), Ubettabelieveit (14/1), Red Carpet Queen (16/1), Stitcher (28/1), Rolfe Rembrandt (33/1), Burning Cash (50/1), Northern General (150/1)

Verdict

Richard Hannon saddled a treble at Lingfield Park on Thursday, which included the juvenile filly Risque, so it's advisable to keep the £40,000 yearling Bay Of Whispers firmly on side in the Town Moor opener. However, the standard to aim towards has already been set by the Karl Burke-trained REBEL AT DAWN. Time will probably tell that this £68,000 yearling was facing a tough task against a promising Mark Johnston-trained winner (Thunder Of Niagara) on Newcastle debut.
  1. Rebel At Dawn
  2. Bay Of Whispers
  3. Emirati Dirham
