Landed a 7f Chelmsford novice on second start in November but came up well short in Listed contest on the AW at Dundalk in February. Much to find with stablemate Year Of The Tiger on form.

Progressed nicely to win three times in five starts around Dundalk over the winter/spring but is 0-4 on turf previously. Good effort last time at Naas (6f, soft to heavy) and should prefer this surface, albeit much tougher opposition.

Runner-up in maidens last season at the Curragh (7f, soft) and Gowran Park (7f, yielding) behind good yardsticks (came clear for second both times). More progress likely but it will be demanded.

War Front colt won a Lingfield novice in September on fifth start, since come up well short in Listed Dundalk race over a mile in February. Needs a chunk of improvement to be landing this prize.

Holy Roman Emperor colt twice successful in eight runs last season, including at Dundalk in December when last sighted. Up in class here with work to do.

33-1 winner of a soft-ground maiden at Naas (7f) on debut in October and off since. Better things are to come this season in all probability but will have his metal tested straight away in this line-up.

6/5
Naas maiden winner last summer on good ground and then tested four times in Group 1/2 company. Latest third behind 2000 Guineas winner Kameko in Futurity Trophy at Newcastle reads well. Form pick coming down in grade and with improvement likely.

Forecasts

Year Of The Tiger (6/5), Edward Hopper (4/1), Dark Vader (11/2), Real Force (7/1), Ten Year Ticket (8/1), King Of Athens (10/1), Prince Of Naples (16/1), Battle Of Liege (33/1)

Verdict

Tough to oppose YEAR OF THE TIGER who danced with some of the finest juveniles last season, including when third behind 2000 Guineas hero Kameko in the Vertem Futurity at Newcastle in November. A drop back to 7f looks fine and he has standout claims easing in grade. Once-raced winner Ten Year Ticket has plenty scope for improvement but Real Force has more experience and can prove second-best while Edward Hopper looks one to keep onside for the Ger Lyons team as he should be winning soon.
  1. Year Of The Tiger
  2. Real Force
  3. Ten Year Ticket
