3lb higher than when successful on handicap debut at Thirsk (1m, soft) in September 2018; ran to a fair and consistent level throughout last season (mainly over 1m4f) but wouldn't necessarily appear as an obvious type to be winning on AW debut.
Solid and versatile in terms of surface on the AW (4-15); struck for the first time on turf at Goodwood (1m4f, soft) last June when beating Kirkland Forever by 2L; notable that Andrea Atzeni takes the mount.
Like so many of Dr Marwan Koukash's horses has done the vast majority of his racing at Chester (15 of 18 career starts); beaten by progressive types (Hereby and Well Funded) on his final two starts in 2019.
Offered plenty of hope for the future when an encouraging second to Groveman on his return from a 581-day absence over C&D in late February; retains scope for further improvement on the AW (0-3); realistic place chance in a tougher heat.
Landed a Veterans' Handicap at Hamilton (1m4f, soft) last September before registering further successes over obstacles at Carlisle; 0-2 on the AW, although the forecast more testing, sticky AW surface could serve to boost his chances.
Right at the top of his game when an authoritative winner of the Listed Scotty Brand Chase at Ayr (2m+, good) in April 2019; bitterly disappointing since, but returns fresh from wind surgery on a lowly mark (solid Flat form in Ireland during 2018).
Made all when a comfortable winner of a 2m1f novices' hurdle at Sedgefield (good) last August; unconvincing on the Flat prior to that, yet couldn't be totally dismissed on the strength of a 33-1 second-place finish at York (1m4f) in May 2019.
Often troublesome in the preliminaries, but has a clear affinity with Gosforth Park (twice a C&D winner); best watched on this occasion given that he's on the comeback trail from a setback (and a wind operation).
Most appealing pedigree; didn't fulfil his potential after a promising start for John Gosden and now finds himself under the wing of Tom Lacey; tongue-tie accompanies blinkers post wind surgery; can that prove a catalyst for further improvement?
Belatedly lost his maiden tag at Pontefract (1m4f, good) on his 13th Flat start; sits near enough that winning mark, although others would make a fair bit more appealing in this competitive handicap; 0-3 on the AW.

Tom Lacey saddles his first ever Flat runner with the frustrating Swift Wing returning from wind surgery having left the care of John Gosden, while Dan Skelton sends the classy, sound jumping chaser AZZURI north from what is potentially a very appealing handicap mark. Others worthy of consideration in an otherwise competitive contest include Mountain Ruler, Sexy Beast and Unit of Assessment. However, having also shown ability on the Flat in Ireland (for Richard O'Brien in 2018), it is the now hopefully clean-winded Skelton-trained chaser who receives the vote.
