Horse silk
Aish
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: K Stott| T: K A Ryan
11/2
8,000gns (vendor) yearling; first foal from a moderate dam who was closely related to the 5f-6f winner Zamjar; drawn wide on the flank (stands side) in stall number 12.
2
(7)
Horse silk
28/1
£30,000 yearling; fifth foal from Mirabile Dictu (placed between 7½f-1m1½f); closely related to the 1m1f French AW winner Ghzayel; it's entirely possible that she'll find others sharper over this 5f trip.
3
(5)
Horse silk
18/1
€9,000 yearling; Dandy Man filly from a unraced dam (sister to the Super Sprint Stakes winner Charles The Great); any evidence of market confidence would be viewed positively.
4
(2)
Horse silk
Dandalla
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: B A Curtis| T: K R Burke
7/1
€15,500 foal, €22,000 yearling; second foal from the 7½f-1m GB/Italian juvenile scorer Chellalla; sister to the 7f AW winner Cauthen; ticks a number of the required boxes.
5
(1)
Horse silk
6/1
32,000gns yearling; first foal from the 1m winner Blue Geranium (a sister to the 1m3f AW winner Kybosh); hails from much respected quarters and merits plenty of respect accordingly.
6
(9)
Horse silk
7/2
First foal from the 1m winner Madame Butterfly (was a half-sister to the 1m Group 1 scorer Amazing Maria, as well as the useful 7f-1m1½f winner Constantino); carries the Sir Robert Ogden silks.
7
(10)
Horse silk
150/1
First foal from the hardy 5f-7f winner Slim Chance; trainer wouldn't necessarily be a regular source of juvenile scorers; far safer to look elsewhere.
8
(6)
Horse silk
9/2
£22,000 yearling; eighth foal from the 7f Listed winner Clifton Dancer; half-sister to three winners, including the 6f AW scorer Avenue Of Stars; shouldn't be dismissed lightly.
9
(3)
Horse silk
25/1
€28,000 foal; third foal from the well-related 1m winner Odyssee; warrants no more than a basic market check in what is essentially a very open juvenile contest.
10
(11)
Horse silk
28/1
12th living foal from the 5f-6f juvenile scorer Bebe De Cham; winning siblings include Punch Drunk (7f) and Pericle (1m-1m2f); it would come as somewhat of a surprise if she's positively involved in the finish.
11
(4)
Horse silk
66/1
Ninth foal from the speedy 5f juvenile scorer Melandre; winning siblings include Stanghow (5f), Rock Of Monaco (7f) and Lucky Lodge (5f-7f); on that basis shouldn't be troubled by this Tapeta surface; that said, others are much preferred.
12
(8)
Horse silk
6/1
Mehmas filly; third foal; half-sister to the smart juvenile Liberty Beach (2019 Grp 3 Molecomb Stakes winner); on paper rates as one to be taken very seriously indeed.

Forecasts

Imperial Butterfly (7/2), Navajo Spring (9/2), Aish (11/2), Electric Blue (6/1), Virginia Plane (6/1), Dandalla (7/1), Cool Dandy (18/1), Sandhoe (25/1), Bonne Vitesse (28/1), Sparkling Perry (28/1), Upside Down (66/1), Little Chance (150/1)

Verdict

The market should offer the most relevant clues for the first fillies' juvenile contest of the 2020 Flat season. With no previous form on which to gauge their respective abilities we're reliant solely on pedigrees and trainer records at the time of writing. Some of the likelier types include, Electric Blue (James Tate), Imperial Butterfly (Richard Fahey) and Cool Dandy (Keith Dalgleish). However, in nailing the colours to a single mast, the suggested approach is to side with the John Quinn-trained VIRGINIA PLANE. This Mehmas filly is a half-sister to the 2019 Group 3 Molecomb Stakes winner Liberty Beach.
  1. Virginia Plane
  2. Imperial Butterfly
  3. Electric Blue
