Tapeta winner at Wolverhampton in December when sporting first-time cheekpieces but has disappointed subsequently and hasn't looked entirely straightforward. Dropped 2lb and headgear removed; has something to prove.

Back-to-back winner last summer including a 7f course success and has been consistent subsequently. Dropped 1lb for his latest effort when third of 14 at Windsor (beaten 7L) but opposable from 5lb above his last winning mark.

Left all previous form behind when beaten just 1L on handicap debut and confirmed the promise of that run when winning at Kempton last time out. Nothing wrong with an 8lb rise for that success and the one to beat as a result.

Narrowly denied on his only AW start here back in 2018. Out of form when last seen but only 1lb above his last winning mark as a result and interesting back on AW if ready to go.

On a long losing run since a turf success in 2018. Ran with credit when only narrowly denied over C&D back in November but didn't build on that run when last seen here. Well-handicapped if he can find some form again.

Two-time winner on turf and has run with credit on AW. Didn't settle on his previous attempt at this trip and has hinted this sort of mark may not be beyond him; interesting contender.

Useful on AW, as seen when winning at Kempton in August but hasn't managed to show his best form on previous attempts at this trip. Starts out for new yard and entitled to need this run.

Gained five wins in seven starts in 2017/2018 including two wins over C&D. However, hasn't looked quite the same since returning from an 11 month absence in September. Well-handicapped as a result but disappointed at short odds here last time.

Kicked off last season with a 1m2f win at Redcar but didn't replicate that form in the remainder of the season. Had previously shown ability to handle this track when runner-up twice as a juvenile and not ruled out on first start since wind surgery.

Won back-to-back races on turf at the start of last season and while he's without an AW win in eight attempts, he's hit the frame in three of his runs at this venue. Place chance again if ready on return.

Won his maiden on Tapeta at Wolverhampton and his best effort since was a second of eight at Southwell last time out. Can be too keen in his races and that's a concern here on return.

Edgar Allan Poe250
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-2| J: Phil Dennis| T: Rebecca Bastiman| OR:  75| D

Best form is over further than this and he was well beaten here on his seasonal debut in 2019. Yet to win from a mark this high and likely best watched here.

Forecasts

Mutasaamy (4/5), Little Jo (9/1), Motawaafeq (10/1), Geizy Teizy (10/1), Cote d'Azur (12/1), Defence Treaty (14/1), Global Spirit (14/1), Dancin Boy (16/1), Saisons D'Or (33/1), Amadeus Grey (40/1), Indian Viceroy (50/1), Edgar Allan Poe (150/1)

Verdict

The unexposed MUTASAAMY looks like an exciting prospect and the penny finally dropped when last seen when bolting up at Kempton. With a more attractive profile than many of these, he's hard to oppose despite his 8lb rise in the weights. Saisons D'Or tends to go well here and makes some each-way appeal while Dancin Boy is worth consideration in the hope a wind operation has had the desired effect.
  1. Mutasaamy
  2. Saisons D'Or
  3. Dancin Boy
