Dual Tapeta winner including a C&D success in January. Creditable efforts in defeat subsequently but could well be in the handicapper's grip for now.

Placed on both previous runs here and has an AW success on Fibresand to his name. Out of form when last seen and can compromise his chance with slow starts but back on a workable mark if everything falls right for him.

Expensive purchase as a yearling but only showed minor promise on sole start for Sir Michael Stoute. Merely passing beaten rivals when sixth of 13 over C&D in February (beaten 10L). More needed on handicap debut here.

Course winner who bounced back to form with a narrow defeat here in March (7f). Met trouble in running twice that day and has won over this longer trip so worth consideration with just a 2lb rise in the weights to cope with.

Has five wins on Tapeta (all at Wolverhampton) but hasn't managed to replicate that form at this venue. Significant absence to overcome here and still 3lb above his last winning mark.

Only AW success in 13 attempts came in a dead-heat at this venue over 6f. Sole success since came in selling company on turf but has shown he stays this trip in subsequent defeats; significant absence to overcome though.

Ran okay here as a juvenile but struggled for form throughout last season. Dropped a further 3lb and the booking of Rodriguez is a positive but has a bit to prove on his first start since August.

Well bred filly who showed promise on debut at Lingfield. Disappointed twice since and not certain to appreciate this drop in trip as far as her pedigree is concerned. Unexposed for handicap/yard debut having been bought for 10,000 gns in August.

Failed to build on a promising debut at Wetherby in three subsequent starts for Roger Charlton including handicap debut last time. This yard do well with new recruits with this profile though and this mark could prove lenient.

Only win in 20 starts came over C&D in January when prevailing by the narrowest of margins. Not in the same form over 1m2f here when last seen and looks opposable from 2lb above his last winning mark.

Yet to hit the frame in three starts including two C&D efforts. Well beaten when 50/1 last time and needs to improve markedly on handicap debut here; first start since wind surgery.

The Big House244
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-2| J: Barry McHugh| T: Adrian Nicholls| OR:  61| BF| D

Gained two wins on turf last season, most recently in a Catterick handicap (7f) in September from a 3lb lower mark. Two previous AW attempts hardly inspiring though; back up in trip.

Forecasts

Stone Mason (15/8), Al Ozzdi (4/1), Heavenly Tale (5/1), Curfewed (10/1), Tiercel (12/1), My Boy Lewis (16/1), The Big House (18/1), Zodiakos (22/1), Ghadbbaan (25/1), Muatadel (25/1), Celtic Artisan (40/1), Ideal Destiny (66/1)

Verdict

Stone Mason could be a popular pick here given his trainer's record with well bred horses from other yards who may have lost their way. However, TIERCEL was unlucky here last time out and with a return to one mile a potential source of improvement, the seven-year-old could be the one to beat. Zodiakos is another to consider if he can find his best form.
  1. Tiercel
  2. Stone Mason
  3. Zodiakos
