Useful sort in bumpers (won on debut for another yard) and gradually improved over hurdles to win over C&D (first-time tongue-tie and back in trip). He should stay further but is kept to 2m for now as he tries to defy a penalty.

Trainer thinks he could be a useful prospect having already won a point-to-point on debut and also scored on his initial outing under Rules by 9L (Hereford bumper). Shaped well in a Listed bumper when last seen and sure to make an impression.

Placed in three of his four bumper runs he's proved consistent in that sphere without setting the world alight. Ran to a similar level on his one hurdles start so far over 2m and will be suited by further.

Scored in a Southwell bumper (3rd start) when odds-on in March and was then put way until October when he failed to justify favouritism in a Stratford bumper. 2nd on hurdles debut in a race that looks sound form (4th won next time); more to come.

Fair in bumpers (better than the result on debut) he ran to much the same level when sent over hurdles last time. Unfancied in the market there (50-1) he showed some ability (not knocked about); looks one for handicaps with a mark.

Useful sort on the Flat (won off 97 on the AW over 1m2f) when with Marco Botti he cost 40,000 guineas out of that yard in late October. Should go well here based on his Flat ability and his yard's record with this type; one to note in the market.

Well found in the market on his bumper debut for the Pipe yard he had already had a breathing operation; finished well held. Too free in a first-time hood sent hurdling for his current yard that equipment is retained here; makes little appeal.

Looked in need of the experience when making his bumper debut and given a break after that before offering little on his hurdling debut. Should prove capable of better given some more time but looks one of the stable lesser lights.

There were hints of ability on his bumper debut just over a year ago (looked in need of the experience). Failed to have a good experience on his hurdles debut at Warwick recently; hampered at the first, struggled to get in the race; better expected.
Failed to come on for his initial experience in bumpers earlier in the year and has only just reappeared making his hurdles debut last month. 2m appeared to be a little on the sharp side though and he looks a stayer in the making.
Dual French Flat winner for Julien Phelippon with give in the ground both times at up to 1m7f; form looks fairly useful. Now makes his hurdling/GB/stable debut with the market the best guide to his chance.
Both his bumper runs earlier in the year showed mild promise without being anything special. Given a break he showed more to work on in his hurdles debut not settling that well but still finishing a decent 4th over 2m; should improve.

A winner on turf (on debut) and on the AW on the Flat when with Michael Bell he ran some reasonable races without winning for his current yard in the same sphere. Stays well on the Flat and goes hurdling for the first time for a very capable yard.

Faces a stiff task here having made little appeal on her debut and she showed nothing there that would offer encouragement for the future. Can only be watched here in a race that contains some useful sorts.

Forecasts

Brewin'upastorm (5/6), Brecon Hill (11/2), Winston C (6/1), Flash The Steel (7/1), Special Acceptance (12/1), Kyllachy Gala (16/1), Sermando (33/1), Lyndsays Lad (40/1), Havana Hermano (40/1), Lochinver (100/1), Pemberley (100/1), Ostuni (100/1), Brunel Woods (100/1), Ask Jilly (250/1)

Verdict

Some nice types in this with some useful bumper/hurdles form asking to be compared to those switching from the Flat for their first jumping experience. Two that fit neatly into that last category are Winston C and Kyllachy Gala both of whom could be useful in this sphere based on their Flat ratings and should be respected here. Flash The Steel looks one of the better ones with hurdling experience and his Bangor race looks as though it could work out well while the only hurdles winner in the field Brecon Hill faces a stiff task under a penalty. BREWIN'UPASTORM is well regarded by his trainer (cost £250,000) and his bumper form catches the eye and he’s sure to be better over hurdles.
  1. Brewin'upastorm
  2. Kyllachy Gala
  3. Flash The Steel
