Won this race last year so no doubts about the track or surface; also been consistent in three runs at her owner's beloved Chester since undergoing wind surgery at the start of this year. First-time cheekpieces may help her focus. One to consider.

Goes well here but not at his best on turf so far this season. On a fair mark and return to the AW in his favour and no reason he can't go close if in the mood. 14 races since the gelding's last win though.

Won a seller at Lingfield (1m2f) on his penultimate start but well held off this mark latest and a bit to prove after that run. Has won over C&D before now but looks held by the assessor.

In flying form just now and a big bonus that he loves this course. Not done any favours by the draw and this looks tougher than last weekend's C&D success. Has won for today's rider but stiff test ahead this time.

Yet to win beyond 7f and has a bit to prove after fading tamely when headed 1f out over C&D last Saturday. May have benefitted from the experience but big improvement needed.

Well teated from just 1lb above her last win on turf and has been placed over C&D from similar marks in the past. Not been at her best since returning from a break but has a good temperament for a race of this nature. Place claims if bouncing back.

Consistent during his time with Jessica Harrington when trained in Ireland; handled the Polytrack at Dundalk and not disgraced on Tapata debut at Newcastle last month. Interesting contender and worthy of consideration.

Lost her way a tad after winning at Kempton in May and lacks any previous experience of this particular course. Others more convincing.

Has been placed here over 7f but has stayed 1m2f elsewhere. Not been seen at his best since returning from a wind operation in early summer but cannot be discounted on the pick of his form. Represents a knowledgeable trainer; worth a betting check.

Relatively lightly raced since his maiden win at Redcar in 2016; fourth of nine last time out at Kempton his best effort from four starts for his current yard. Needs to better recent performances to figure prominently.

Won a nursery on her final start for Eve Johnson Houghton last year and nowhere near the same promise shown in any of her four starts since her belated return in June. Difficult to enthuse about just now.

Typically tough campaigner from a top yard; has already won four times during 2018 and will be making his 27th appearance since January. No secrets from the handicapper but the drop in trip will suit. (Previous C&D winner.)

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: Darragh Keenan(3)| T: S Kirk| OR:  64

Has been placed over C&D but is still a maiden after 11 previous starts and this season's form, which has mainly been regressive, leaves a little to be desired. On a career lowest mark but has a lot to prove at present.

Forecasts

Tiny Tempest (9/2), American Patrol (9/2), Celtic Artisan (11/2), Magwadiri (6/1), Chaucer's Tale (8/1), Bell Heather (10/1), Ravenhoe (12/1), Baashiq (14/1), Dance Me (14/1), Connemera Queen (22/1), Foie Gras (40/1), Dose (40/1), Toriano (50/1)

Verdict

Several hold decent claims and the likes of: Chaucer's Tale, Celtic Artisan, and Dose all merit consideration for a place at least, while last year's winner Bell Heather is 4lb higher this time but cannot be discounted in spite of being set to carry top weight. However, a chance is taken that MAGWADIRI can up his game once more and, having coped well at Newcastle last time, the gelding appeals as a punter's choice to handle the Tapeta surface best in an open handicap.
