Finished 4L fourth in this last year when rated 10lb lower. Improved later in season to win at both Newbury and Leicester over this trip. Made an encouraging return when 4L fourth in Listed company at Goodwood. Each-way claims from this mark.

Was in fine form on AW in the winter, winning three races at Wolverhampton, including over 1m4f. Well held when last seen at Musselburgh in March (1m6f, heavy). Since had wind surgery. 3lb drop here. Acts on good to firm. Bit to prove.

Dual good ground winner at up to 1m2f. Has since won on AW over 1m3f, when 7lb lower. Went close from just 3lb lower at York in May. Not disgraced in the Duke Of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot. Bit more needed, but each-way claims.

Dual winner here over 1m2f on good to firm last season, including at this meeting. Now 19lb higher than that after two further successes, including by a ready 6L at Newbury when back up to this trip last time. Potential for more. Claims.

Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes winner in 2016, when with Sir Michael Stoute, but has not won in 13 subsequent starts. Has been beaten 5L and 7¾L in two of his last four runs, when 1lb lower, so looks to have each-way claims at best.

Goes well here, having won over C&D last season and again when a decisive 7L scorer over marginally shorter last month. Improved on that in defeat at Windsor last time. From the same mark today, he could go well in probably trying to make all.

Won three of his first four career starts, including the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot (1m4f, good to firm), from 6lb lower. Badly out of sorts in both runs since. Now gelded, fresh and tongue-tied. Claims if back to his best.

Won Listed Floodlit Stakes over this trip at Lingfield (AW) in November and went close at that level at Goodwood in May and Nottingham last month. Drops 1lb on return to a handicap and went close last year at York from just 1lb lower. Not ruled out.

Dual scorer in Irish handicaps (1m2f/1m4f) last year. Has so far been competing at pattern level only in five starts for this trainer. Beaten 1¾L in Listed Pontefract event (1m4f, good to firm) latest. Thereabouts if at her best.

All three wins have been earned on good to firm at up to 1m2f. However, he has looked exposed since the last of those at Newmarket last month. Drops 2lb this time, but much more needed than he has shown recently and looks vulnerable.

Improving this season and has won two of his last three starts, over Beverley's 1m½f and York's 1m2½f. Was well beaten on only previous try over this far, but the way he ran last time suggests that he can get home. Up 8lb but not ruled out.

Group 3 winner who stays 2m, but has not won since doing so at that trip in Listed company in 2015. Has been very competitive from this mark on both his last two starts at Musselburgh and Ayr. Not ruled out on an each-way basis.

Competitive handicapper at slightly lower levels than this and at up to 1m4f. Has managed to find a bit of improvement on his last two starts, posting a career-best at Pontefract last time. Needs to do so again in this field from 3lb higher.

1-11 and has found one too good on all his last four starts over 1m4f-1m6f. A 1lb rise for the most recent of those does not look ideal. Still improving, but certainly looks vulnerable in this line-up.

Sole turf win came over this trip at Salisbury (good to firm) last year, when 17lb lower. Has added three more on AW and posted a career-best back on turf at Ayr last time (1m5f). Same mark today, so more needed.

Won twice at up to 1m4½f (on good to firm) for Andrew Balding last year. Placed in all four starts since the latter success, including on debut for this trainer at Ayr (1m2f, good) last time. Up 2lb but could be more to come. Considered.

Verdict

A hugely competitive handicap on paper and TEODORO is given the vote. His trainer and jockeys' records here bear the closest scrutiny, while he won with a fair bit in hand last time. Unexposed over this trip, he can follow-up. A fully firing Atty Persse would have to be a concern, while Sofia's Rock could get them all at it from up front and pick up some prize money. Stablemate Rainbow Rebel is not ruled out. The same goes for Wingingit, while Atkinson Grimshaw is interesting and Society Red is another who should be right in the thick of it.
  1. Teodoro
  2. Atty Persse
  3. Sofia's Rock
