His debut effort showed that he would be capable in handicaps and his recent run after being gelded was probably needed. Now steps up 3f in trip with the cheekpieces going on for the first time.

Already a dual handicap winner as a two-year-old on the AW (Tapeta) and proved himself on turf last time. Steps up 3f in trip now but looks as though the handicapper has him in his grip now.

All throughout his novice events he had looked the sort for handicaps so it was a surprise when he ran poorly on his debut in that sphere. Now gelded he returns from a break to try handicaps again; trip looks a little too testing.

From a yard that has been in excellent form of late he showed improved form on his handicap debut at Brighton (1m4f, soft). Bred to be better than this mark and should give another strong display despite dropping in distance.

Second runner in the race for the trainer he confirmed that he's improved last time after showing more switched to the AW on his second start. Now makes his handicap debut although others look to offer more.

There was promise in his early runs as a juvenile before he rather looked as though he lost his way (highly tried twice). His recent return (handicap debut) gave hope though (ran far better than his finishing position); interesting here off 4lb lower

Looks to have been brought along with handicaps in mind although his debut run remains his best (not quite able to match that yet). He steps up 3f in trip now having kept on well over 7f last time; has potential for this sphere.

Another in this field who is likely to do better now he's sent into handicaps he looked as though he was in need of the run on his return. All his qualifying runs have been over 1m and he now gets a test that will suit him better in this sphere.

Far too free when she was upped in trip last time on her return from a break she's should be suited by this trip on pedigree. May yet do better in a strongly-run race but does have to learn to settle.

Seemingly improved when making his handicap debut on the AW and his run last time out can be forgotten when he made his turf debut (hampered late on). Not one of the more obvious ones in this on what he shown so far though.

Interesting and progressive sort who showed improved form on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton that form has already been well advertised by three next time out winners. May not have quite been the finished article there and a leading chance here.

Back on turf last time over 1m4f (a trip that looked too far on pedigree) she showed some decent form only finding the winner a tough nut to crack. This requires more and she faces plenty that look likely to improve more here.

Verdict

A race with a fair few making their handicaps debuts and the majority of those are stepping up in distance also. The most attractive proposition though looks to be BRAEMAR whose debut second in a handicap could not have been better advertised. He didn’t quite looks the finished article there and is expected to know more this time around. Optimum Time took a step back in the right direction last time out without having a the run of the race and he’s worth a look along with Rocky Shores who showed at Brighton he’s a tough nut to crack. Of the handicap debutantes Mankind and Global Art look two of the most interesting and are worth a market check.
