Arrives in good form after scoring at Lingfield last week in a similar contest, for which he carries a penalty today. Did win from this equivalent mark about a year ago, so not ruled out, though he to prove he goes as well on this surface.
Won at Chelmsford in March (5f) from a mark of 94 and only seen twice since, scoring again last time back at that venue in August, from 5lb higher. Appeared to be more to come that day, so 6lb rise not insurmountable if he handles Tapeta.
Won a 6f claimer (when fresh) and a 5f conditions event at Newcastle (Tapeta) this time last year, though has been well held in handicaps since. Returns here fresh and from a mark that he should be capable of being more competitive.
Yet to run here, though has some decent form on the Polytrack and ran well on his sole run on Tapeta so far, at Newcastle (6f) in March, when beaten less than 2L from a mark of 99. Could do much better today than on recent pipe-opener at Kempton.
Won over C&D in April 2016 and has kept on improving. Beaten just over 1L last time out at Newcastle (5f). Up 2lb for that but has claims from this mark if he can reproduce his form from February/March this year. Good draw won't harm.
It's 18-months since he was capable of winning a handicap and he is now 1lb lower than his last All Weather success when with James Given. Debut for this stable today, goes well here, though will need a bit more than his latest run in this field.
Has gone well on both visits here, winning the more recent in a Class 5 handicap over 6f in April. Improved since then on turf for Roger Varian and now makes debut for this yard after three-month break, though mark now stiff enough.
Has not made much of an impact here previously, but that could have had more to do with the handicapper. Returned to form at Lingfield last time out when 1½L behind Gracious John. 3lb better off today but out of handicap and needs to find more.
Forecasts
Gracious John (3/1), Bowson Fred (7/2), Doctor Sardonicus (4/1), Tomily (5/1), Shamshon (7/1), Compas Scoobie (14/1), Sign of The Kodiac (20/1), Doc Sportello (50/1)
A tricky contest with contenders such as Gracious John and Doctor Sardonicus yet to prove themselves on this surface and the suggestion is TOMILY, who handled Newcastle's Tapeta and could be ready for this after a recent reappearance run. Doc Sportello has the inside draw and handles the surface, so can't be ruled out despite his mark, while Bowson Fred is another potential danger.
