Improving performer who landed a Huntingdon maiden hurdle (2m, good to soft) last month and now takes on novices under a penalty. If he can continue his upward curve then he has decent claims of another success in this field.
Point-to-point and bumper winner in Ireland and made a promising British debut at Kempton (2m5f, good) in October. However, disappointed for no apparent reason at Exeter last time. Drop in trip on good ground may yield a better result.
Went into his more recent of two hurdle runs fit from the Flat but came home last of nine, beaten 71L at Sandown, which was a big disappointment. Had promised more on debut last year and better ground may help, but has a fair bit to prove.

Irish point-to-point winner who was sent off at 100-30 on his rules/stable debut in a Sedgefield bumper in October, but was beaten 32L. Should be capable of better than that and jumping obstacles may help, though trip may be shorter than ideal.

Dual All Weather winner who has been well beaten in both hurdles starts so far, sent off at 100-1 each time. Did make some improvement second time and probably one to note more closely when he has a handicap mark.

Has won three times at up to 1m4½f on the Flat. Not seen since May and now makes hurdles/stable debut. Trainer's runners in decent form and he should be well prepared for this, so one to note in the market.

Rated 99 on the Flat and therefore no surprise that he was sent off at 2-1 for his hurdling debut at Leicester last month. Pulled hard there and ended up 14½L fourth, but surely more to come if he can settle better.

Showed promise here in his debut bumper and bettered that on his hurdles debut at Market Rasen (2m2½f, good to soft) last month, outperforming his 33-1 SP with a 6L second of 10. Worth a try over shorter again and should be thereabouts.

50/1
Point-to-point winner who ran well for a long way at Bangor (2m½f, soft) on his hurdling debut last month. Looks capable of better, and particularly when stepped up in trip.
Won several bumpers, including two Grade 2s, in France and made good hurdles debut on her first run for this yard at Newbury last month (2m½f, good to soft). That was smart form in context and with her allowance here she could prove tough to beat.

Forecasts

Countister (4/6), Clondaw Castle (5/2), De Rasher Counter (8/1), Tayzar (12/1), Speed Company (12/1), Desert Cross (33/1), Djarkevi (40/1), Toosey (50/1), Genres (66/1), Frozon (100/1)

Verdict

Clondaw Castle looks to have a bright future and he should be thereabouts once again here despite conceding weight, though he may find the task of giving 13lb to COUNTISTER beyond him. Nicky Henderson's mare made an encouraging debut over hurdles behind Cap Soleil at Newbury and that should have her spot on this time. Tayzar is interesting in opposition, while Speed Company is another probable danger.
  1. Countister
  2. Clondaw Castle
  3. Speed Company
