Steps up in trip here after getting outpaced over shorter recently. Well-beaten on previous attempt at this far but may not have enjoyed the heavy ground there and he should be thereabouts in first-time cheekepieces.

Won a Kempton handicap very well last time over 1m3f, and steps up in trip here on stable debut. 8lb higher in the weights but progressive and has to be considered.

Slightly disappointing at Wolverhampton last time when only fourth having been sent off the short-priced favourite, but still ran a fair race and could do better off the same mark in first-time blinkers.

Only career win came over significantly shorter than this but has looked like she may well stay this far in her recent starts over 1m4f, and is interesting off what looks a workable mark.

Well-beaten by Volturnus into second at Kempton last time, and though that was an encouraging effort dropping back down in trip is a concern.

Won a minor maiden on debut at Lingfield in June but hasn't been able to build on that in three handicaps since, beaten 9+ on each occasion. Looks short of the required quality here.

Has run moderately in three races so far, including here over shorter last time. Steps up in trip again here but very tough to fancy.

0/7 for this trainer so far slightly better when not beaten far at Lingfield last time out but stamina for this far not guaranteed.

17 race maiden, and though some of his better efforts have come on the AW he has to bounce back from a disappointing effort last time from a wide draw.

Kempton winner last month who wasn't far away from doubling up over C&D last time. May have hit the front too soon there and is interesting off the same mark.

Best performance in some time when stepped up in trip at Kempton last time and beaten by just a neck. Not ruled out now stepping up in trip again.

Hinted at some improvement when stepping up in trip at Lingfield for handicap debut two starts ago, but failed to build on that at Kempton latest and others hold more convincing claims.

Stepping up to this sort of trip last time didn't seem to bring about much improvement following some tame form in minor handicaps, and a career best by some distance is needed.

Yet to get off the mark (or finish second) having had many chances in mostly weak races. Very tough to build a case for.

Forecasts

Beatisa (10/3), Send Up (7/2), Volturnus (7/1), I'm Running Late (7/1), Ode To Glory (8/1), Mistress Viz (12/1), Mister Chow (14/1), Olympic Legend (14/1), Too Many Shots (16/1), Percipio (20/1), Naupaka (20/1), Unonothinjonsnow (20/1), Enola (33/1), Autumn Glow (33/1)

Verdict

Off the mark at Kempton over 2m last month, VOLTURNUS appeals most having run very well over C&D last time. He showed there that he can handle this shorter trip and may have hit the front too soon, eventually finishing a close third. Off the same mark he can secure a second career win here, while C&D winner Send Up and Beatsia, another recent Kempton scorer, are also of interest.
  1. Volturnus
  2. Send Up
  3. Beatisa
