Takes a drop back into handicap company after some solid efforts in Pattern company, needs a strong pace to come off and the worry here is that he may not get that. Well drawn though, so deserves respect, but others make more appeal.

Capable of top-class handicap form on his day, and winner of the Wokingham from 5lb lower earlier in the year. went close at Lingfield latest but another that would prefer a strong pace, which may not materialise here.

Has often travelled well in his races but in truth finishing effort has left a bit to be desired. Drop back to 6f possibly a plus, but only if there's some pace on, which looks unlikely. Hood on for the first time, but others still preferred.

Not seen out since May, but has gone well fresh before, so that's not an issue, and should be fine on the surface, but is yet another hold-up horse in a field somewhat full of them, so something has to give. Possibly better at 5f too.

Made all to win at Chelmsford in July, so is at least one of the candidates for the front runner's role, disappointed at Lingfield last time but that run possibly best forgotten and if cheating a poor draw, has chances here.

Seems to enjoy the sand surfaces, twice a winner at Dundalk in the autumn (for Ger Lyons) and probably on a fair mark for new connections. Recently purchased for 50,000 guineas at Tatts Autumn sales and every chance of paying some of that back here.

Throws in the occasional good run to remind us he's not completely out of love with the game, such as his close fifth at York in October, but too many moderate efforts on his card this year to be confident. On a good mark but risky.

Has finished in the frame here on both starts at the track, so surface fine, won a competitive handicap at Doncaster in October but tends to find this mark beyond him. Draw not ideal either, and overall profile suggests other's hold better claims.

Hasn't pulled up any trees on his three efforts here, including last time out when fading to finish midfield. Hard to win with, as demonstrated by a moderate strike rate, and possibly happier one rung down the grading ladder.

First start for new yard (formerly with Aidan O'Brien) and probably open to a bit of improvement yet, as he's only three. Has shown bright speed so good chance of leading here, and if fit after an absence, not ruled out.

Hasn't been seen out since finishing second at Newmarket in late July but has won fresh, so absence isn't a problem. Drops back to 6f here, which looks a positive, has form at the track, and likely to be prominent throughout. Solid chance.

Likes it here, three times a winner at the track and is capable in the grade, so has that going for her, but her efforts this term have left a bit to be desired. Draw not ideal either and best watched today.

Forecasts

Double Up (9/2), Intisaab (6/1), Out Do (7/1), Cartographer (7/1), Reckless Endeavour (8/1), Leo Minor (8/1), Straight Right (10/1), Mazzini (10/1), Kasbah (12/1), Stellarta (14/1), Tomily (14/1), Outback Traveller (16/1)

Verdict

This looks wide open, and the fact there's not that much pace on early may compromise the chance of a few. MAZZINI , therefore, gets the vote despite a moderate draw as he looks most likely to lead and may be able to make all. He handles sand surfaces well and may bounce back here. Cartographer can go well fresh and has enough track form to make her of interest, and can prove the biggest threat. Reckless Endeavour has his first run for Jamie Osborne tonight and is another that goes well on the sand, and must be given consideration too.
