Has started at the head of the market on all of his seven chase runs with wins coming on the last three of those outings rising in the handicap rapidly. Last win came at the start of 2016 off a 5lb lower mark and the market may be the best guide as to his fitness/chance.

Neither of his two chasing visits here have yielded much but he looked rejuvenated by a break last time when winning at Worcester over 2m (looked better than ever). Tongue-tie retained but may struggle to back-up his win off a 5lb higher mark.

Got loose before his reappearance run at Chepstow and ran poorly (pulled-up) but that was in a much better grade than this. Scored twice in this sort of grade early in 2016 on heavy ground but still 4lb above his last winning mark.

From a yard that have struck form of late but they will need to work some magic with this one who looks out of sorts of late. Tried over 3m at Exeter in slightly better company but finished well beaten; last win remains two years ago off 126.

Appeared a rather different model on his first run for this yard (well backed) on chase (handicap) debut with no blinkers this time around (travelled better than usual). Despite racing handily looked to need further and this trip may prove to be on the sharp side again.

Rather free going sort who bounced back from a break to score at Uttoxeter over this trip in September off a 7lb lower mark although that looked weak form. Has struggled with consistency in the past but shaped well enough when third at Exeter last time.

His only win over fences came when he was trained in Ireland and his jumping has been very hit-and-miss for this yard. May well have needed the run on his comeback last time off 4lb higher but propensity for mistakes tempers enthusiasm.

Showed some useful form over hurdles when trained in Ireland (won a Grade 3). Not anywhere near that form for this yard over hurdles or fences and no back from a break; needs a strong pace to be seen to best effect.

Point-to-point winner who has yet to win under Rules (fair maiden over hurdles); has on a few occasions looked as though he would be better over fences. Shaped quite well over hurdles last time (back from a break) and of interest here; worth watching in the market.

Attracted some support on his chase/handicap debut having not been seen for nine months looked to go amiss after some poor jumping. Showed some fair form last year in juvenile hurdles and not totally written off here.

Was a onetime useful handicap chaser with Venetia Williams (last win off a mark of 120). Now with a different stable via Tom Gretton and showed very little of late and looks to have gone the wrong way temperamentally.

Forecasts

Agamemmon (6/4), Just Georgie (4/1), Truckers Highway (11/2), Siruh Du Lac (11/1), Cloudy Beach (14/1), Barton Rose (14/1), Jayo Time (14/1), Halo Moon (20/1), Follow The Swallow (20/1), Newberry New (50/1), Astigos (66/1)

Verdict

A relatively competitive start to the card with most of the attention focused on Agamemmon after his much improved run first time out for the Tom George yard at Huntingdon where he travelled much better than usual. He should make his mark again here but he did look as though further would suit last time and a chance is taken here with JUST GEORGIE who should be a lot fitter for a tune-up over hurdles last time and a return to fences should suit. Truckers Highway looks to be holding his form better than usual and comes into the argument along with Barton Rose who shaped well enough at Exeter last time on the back of her Uttoxeter win. Siruh Du Lac is another who should be capable of better while Halo Moon should be watched with interest in the market returning from a long break.
  1. Just Georgie
  2. Agamemmon
  3. Barton Rose
