Anna Nerium36
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-3| J: Tom Marquand| T: R Hannon| OR:  100| D
25/1
Shock 40/1 winner of a Group 3 at Salisbury last time out (runner-up not disgraced in Group 1 company subsequently), following up a win over this trip on the July course. Conceding weight to this field won't be easy but not without each-way claims.

Runner-up on debut here on the July course before filling the same spot over C&D last time, chasing home a smart sort who has won a Listed race since. More progress likely and the fact she's proven here an obvious positive.

Blanchefleur36
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: S M Levey| T: R Hannon| OR:  79
100/1
Placed on the July course before finishing runner-up in a Salisbury maiden last time out. That level of form looks well below what's required here and seemingly the stable's second-string.

Didn't need to improve to land a Naas maiden on third run and went well in a Curragh Group 3 on next start. Refused to settle over C&D last time but a return to front-running may see her to better effect. Yard's second-string on jockey bookings.

Won a maiden over a mile at Doncaster and followed up with a fine effort in defeat over that same C&D last month in a Group 2. That looks a smart level of form and she will appreciate this ease in grade; ought to go well with top jockey booked.

Twice a winner on the AW but has struggled to land a blow in deeper company on turf. This is easier than her latest assignment in a Group 2 over C&D and faster ground may suit; can't be dismissed.

Expressiyh8
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: W Buick| T: C Appleby| OR:  90| D
14/1
July course winner over this trip in August and back to form with a win on the AW at Chelmsford last time. Gives the impression she will get better as she steps up in trip but not without each-way claims on what she's shown so far.

Gavota14
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: James Doyle| T: H & R Charlton| OR:  95| D
7/2
Winner on the July course on debut over 6f and didn't need to improve when winning over this trip at Lingfield. Took a step forward when third of 10 in a Group 2 over C&D last time and no doubt she can go close if she improves again.

Horse silk
25/1
Invincible Spirit filly, cost 140,000 gns as a yearling. Well bred sort and an impressive winner on debut (had Blanchefleur back in second) for a yard doing well with their juveniles but has to improve plenty if she's to play a part here.

Hikmaa14
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Adam Beschizza| T: E F Vaughan| OR:  101
16/1
Winner on first two runs on the AW and ran well in Group company last time when finishing a place behind Gavota. Work on to reverse the form with that rival but it's a strong level of form and she may improve for the likely quicker ground.

Horse silk
2/1
Fastnet Rock filly, cost 240,000 gns as a yearling. Pulled clear of a useful yardstick with a degree of ease on debut over this trip at Dundalk and yard's runners often take big strides forward from debut. Yard's first-string and warrants respect.

Jousi35
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Josephine Gordon| T: H Palmer| OR:  85| D
80/1
Won a fillies' race at Ascot in July but well beaten when tried in Group company over this trip on the July course. Better when runner-up in calmer waters on the AW at Kempton last time but looks vulnerable back up in class.

Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Jim Crowley| T: W J Haggas| OR:  96
22/1
Respectable effort when fourth of 13 in a Group 3 at Salisbury last time (won by Anna Nerium) and gets a 3lb pull in the weights with that rival here for a 1½L defeat. Needs to improve to win this though and looks a little more exposed than most.

Special Purpose36
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Oisin Murphy| T: W J Haggas| OR:  99| BF
14/1
Good third of 13 in Anna Nerium's Group 3 win at Salisbury last time and gets a 3lb pull in the weights for a ½L defeat so may be able to turn the tables with that rival here. Shapes like she will stay this far and has each-way claims.

Forecasts

I Can Fly (2/1), Gavota (7/2), Dark Rose Angel (11/2), Butterscotch (14/1), Expressiy (14/1), Special Purpose (14/1), Hikmaa (16/1), One Minute (22/1), Altyn Orda (25/1), Herecomesthesun (25/1), Anna Nerium (25/1), Elizabeth Bennet (66/1), Jousi (80/1), Blanchefleur (100/1)

Verdict

A typically competitive renewal of this contest with very few that can be ruled out but a narrow vote goes to I CAN FLY. Aidan O'Brien's runners often improve markedly from their first outing and the daughter of Fastnet Rock beat a useful Dermot Weld horse on debut by four lengths. Gavota ran well in Group 2 company last time and may prove even better on faster ground but Dark Rose Angel may prove the main danger and will find this a little easier than her Group 2 run last time when just failing to last home.
  1. I Can Fly
  2. Dark Rose Angel
  3. Gavota
