Has returned in good form this year and he's dangerous when gifted an easy lead, as seen at Windsor earlier in the campaign. Hard to imagine he's particularly well-handicapped but he's the only obvious front-runner here and may be able to dominate.

Listed winner back in 2015 but hasn't got his head in front since. Disappointing at pattern level this campaign and while he will find this easier than many of his assignments this year, others arrive with stronger claims.

Well suited to 1m4f with some dig in the ground and has fallen below his last winning mark. Couldn't justify favouritism at Haydock last time but a respectable effort regardless and handicapper has dropped him another 2lb. Should be thereabouts.

Confirmed the promise he displayed on debut with a pair of wins at Newmarket, latterly a facile win in Class 3 company. 10lb higher as a result but could be more to come over this new trip.

Back on track with a win at Newmarket in August, seemingly enjoying the soft conditions. Not at his best at York last time out when he failed to quicken but should be thereabouts if this turns into a real test of stamina; may want some rainfall.

Back-to-back winner when last seen on the Flat and has been running well over hurdles subsequently. Entitled to need this, having not been seen since the Cheltenham Festival but handicap mark still looks feasible returned to this sphere.

Forecasts

Game Starter (5/6), King Bolete (5/1), Amazing Red (11/2), Tawdeea (7/1), Restorer (12/1), Nietzsche (20/1)

Verdict

It's entirely possible KING BOLETE will get an uncontested lead here and he's shown how effective he can be when allowed to dictate terms. Game Starter is less exposed than the rest of this field but needs more from a 10lb higher mark and Amazing Red looks sure to enjoy any rain that falls. However, it may be Tawdeea who proves the main danger to the selection with the handicapper giving him a real chance dropping him another 2lb.
  1. King Bolete
  2. Tawdeea
  3. Amazing Red
