In good form with back-to-back chase wins on his final two runs with Nicky Henderson in the spring. Made a good start for this yard with runner-up slots twice but has to overcome a tough looking mark here (11lb above last winning mark).

Not seen for a while now but trainer does well here and this one had three chase wins to his name last year, often making all. A beaten odds-on favourite on his last start (made a bad mistake at the last) in December and not seen since.

Has done nothing but improve for this yard and is still unbeaten for them having won three hurdles and two handicap chases. He was handed a pretty simple task last time out (favourite underperformed) and up 14lb here, but still a real threat.

A winner of back-to-back handicap chases last year, the second off a mark of 125, he ran well on his reappearance over C&D off a 1lb higher mark. However he went backwards from that run back in trip last time at Worcester, not jumping well at all.

Could have been called smart in his prime and has shaped well in the majority of starts for this yard after his move from Ireland. Has his first try over fences for this yard now off a career low mark and dangerous to discount.

Forecasts

Guitar Pete (13/8), Theo (3/1), Master Dee (4/1), Hammersly Lake (6/1), Notarfbad (10/1)

Verdict

A fascinating little contest with all five having some sort of chance but THEO looks on a real roll and could well add another win to his tally here after shaping well in his last two chase starts. Hammersly Lake faces a tough task off this sort of mark but this consistent sort is hard to write off despite having to give weight away to all his rivals. It’s hard to know how fit Master Dee is after his long absence but if he’s ready to go, he’ll be dangerous and Guitar Pete off his light weight shouldn't be left out of calculations.
  1. Theo
  2. Hammersly Lake
  3. Guitar Pete
