Certainly hasn't shown her best this year although she did look as though there was some slight improvement last time out. It should be noted that she was successful from a much higher mark over C&D last year but not really done enough to suggest full recovery.

Her run to win here over C&D off a 4lb lower mark last time was just reward for a good spell of form. She made all to be a little better than the bare form will show although she may be vulnerable to anything younger and improving.

In good form last year winning on three occasions and runs well here have won twice at the course (once over C&D). Given a long break now after running in a higher grade on last start of season and only recently returned to the track.

Step up in trip helped to end a long losing run when he scored on his penultimate start at Newbury having the run of the race. Proved that run wasn't a fluke when he ran well over C&D last time out off a 3lb higher mark and respected here.

Winner of back-to-back handicaps earlier in the season showing that she could handle different ground and she has run with credit since. A rare poor effort last time out needs to be overcome and she could be vulnerable off this mark.

Lightly-raced three-year-old who showed plenty of promise in maidens when gradually stepped up in trip and made the most of an easier opportunity last time out. Makes his handicap debut here stepping up in trip again and is an interesting sort.

The most inexperienced runner in the field having scored on his second start in an AW maiden over 1m4f having learnt from his debut. That may not have been the strongest of contests though but he's clearly of interest on his handicap debut.

Another unexposed three-year-old who shaped well on handicap/AW debut last time out over 2f further than he goes here. Didn't appear to get home there and this 1m6f may well be more his trip having already had turf experience.

Like a few of the stables recruits previously raced in France but hasn't shown an awful lot of promise despite a sliding mark and would be a surprising winner.

Improving steadily run by run in handicaps and landed a 1m3f contest at Yarmouth last time showing a very good attitude. Up 5lb for that win and takes on a better grade here tackling a new trip but could well be in the mix.

Made all to win at Ffos Las last time out recording his third win of the season but he was seen to best effect there and won't find life as easy here from 1lb out of the handicap. This is also more competitive and a fourth win of the season looks unlikely.

There was a slight hint of promise in his comeback run this year but has looked hard work since in three runs (also tried in headgear). Plenty to prove here and not one that is expected to figure.

Forecasts

Hawridge Flyer (3/1), Astute Boy (4/1), High On Light (7/1), Normandie Attack (8/1), Takbeer (10/1), Always Resolute (14/1), Monaco Rose (14/1), Fulham (14/1), Incus (16/1), Intense Tango (16/1), Nordic Combined (20/1), Foresee (50/1)

Verdict

It looks as though the three-year-olds hold the advantage here with two of them on their handicap debuts and expected to run well, There may well be a doubt about the fitness of Fulham and for that reason HAWRIDGE FLYER is given the nod in this having shown up well in all his runs with the promise of more to come. Astute Boy should also be given credit for his form this year and this trip may well suit him after he showed a good attitude to win last time out. Of the older horses Always Resolute could well step forward on his reappearance and High On Light can’t be written off based on her run here last time out.
