Out of his depth in the Nunthorpe but more than capable at this level as he showed when scoring at Haydock in June. Meets Take Cover on 3lb better terms for ½L on running at York in July. Rider has a 19% strike rate for the yard.

Unlucky not to land a Newcastle Group Three two months ago, but subsequently landed a Listed race at Chester. Over this trip, and at this level, his style of running could leave him vulnerable to traffic problems. Obvious claims otherwise.

Surprising he has not lined up for this event before on a track that should suit his bold running style. Has won a Group Two and has also landed two of his last three in Listed company (beaten a neck in the other). Change of rider is a worry.

Landed this last year and unbeaten at this track. Aimed high this season but has acquitted himself well in the Temple Stakes and the King's Stand. Should give a good account at a decent price and stable have taken three of the last ten renewals.

Has impressively posted back to back successes at Doncaster and York. It is over two years since he has been up to the standard required to win this, but he probably is not far off and his stable are in excellent form.

Winner of 10 races who is suited to a fast pace on quick ground. Should get both here and he has been beaten no more than a length in three previous attempts to land this contest.

Runner-up in this in 2014. Showed he still has the legs to be competitive at this level when scoring at Leicester and again when chasing home Battaash at Sandown. Poor last time and others are more appealing as a result.

Boasts a 3-5 record here and arrives having finished an excellent second in the Great St. Wilfrid. Has failed at this level in the past and this looks a strong renewal.

Improved as a handicapper last season but has been found wanting on two starts in this grade. Should be a similar story here as she has several pounds to find on official ratings.

Impressive winner at Chester in July but that effort means connections have had to aim her high since. So far she has been found wanting and she looks a long way short in this company.

Forecasts

Take Cover (3/1), Kimberella (7/2), Final Venture (9/2), Judicial (7/1), Mirza (8/1), Alpha Delphini (8/1), Line Of Reason (9/1), Pipers Note (11/1), Desert Law (14/1), The Wagon Wheel (22/1), Go On Go On Go On (40/1)

Verdict

Take Cover lines up for this without his regular rider and Kimberella may need further these days. Paul Midgeley has his team in excellent shape and a case can be made for all three of his runners - our preference would be for Final Venture on form although Line Of Reason has run well in this race previously. JUDICIAL is a 5f specialist who won his only previous start here and is 4-5 on similar going. He does not have much to find on form with Take Cover and Kimberella and, with doubts attached to that pair, this may be his moment to shine. Last year's winner Alpha Delphini has been mixing it with some of the world's best and he should give a good account back at this level.
