Came right away for an easy success over C&D last time but that race rather fell in his lap, and a 10lb rise here demands more. Nevertheless, the tongue tie there seemed to help, so may be able to defy the rise. Not discounted.

Game winner at Warwick two starts ago and ran to a similar level at Newton Abbot last time out (looks strong form). Can idle a bit in front so expect him to be brought late onto the scene. Still looks on a fair mark and should be on the premises.

Took advantage of the leaders going off too quickly to score at Uttoxeter last time, and this step back up in trip no bother. Up another 5lb for that but no saying he's finished winning yet. Handles most ground and must be considered.

Has given trouble at the start, but on best behaviour recently, and wasn't disgraced in a hot contest at Market Rasen last time. Ground to make up with Midnight Cowboy (on a line through Alcala) on that and others make a bit more appeal today.

Winner at Ffos Las in June but hasn't gone on from that, and was well beaten at Market Rasen last time, finding little once push came to shove. Yard have gone quiet too and others are readily preferred.

Winner at Worcester in May but previous win (back in 2015, admittedly) came over this C&D from a 2lb higher mark, so no qualms from a handicapping point of view. However, never the most consistent and not easy predicting going days.

Usually goes from the front but has thrown the towel in a bit quickly on recent starts and connections now go for a change of headgear to buck his ideas up. Well handicapped but a very risky proposition at present.

Forecasts

Midnight Cowboy (2/1), Cut The Corner (4/1), Reilly's Minor (5/1), Petrou (6/1), Newton Geronimo (13/2), Degooch (8/1), One Term (9/1), Marquis Of Carabas (16/1)

Verdict

Reilly's Minor might be allowed an easy time of it on the front end but he comes with all sorts of risks after a couple of mediocre efforts, and preference is for MIDNIGHT COWBOY . His third to Alcala got a boost when that one took a Listed event at Market Rasen next time and from the same mark, may be able to get back on the winning trail. Degooch did it well last time but a hefty rise in the weights demands more today. He may find the selection that bit better handicapped. Cut The Corner and the enigmatic Newton Geronimo are others to consider.
  1. Midnight Cowboy
  2. Degooch
  3. Cut The Corner
