Class act who missed an engagement at York recently when there was a bit of give in the ground, so it will be interesting to see how he fares in the forecast conditions. Looked progressive when winning at this level at Sandown in May and carries a penalty for that, but should go very well.

Aside from one Deauville run, he still to prove that he is up to being truly competitive at this level and was last seen finishing runner-up in Listed company at Newbury (1m2f, soft) in July. Needs to step up on that to figure.

Dual Listed winner over 1m2f and 1m4f. Has run reasonably well on both times we have seen him this season and has been placed at this level before now, but needs to be on top of his game to be among the prizes.

Enjoyed a successful raid Down Under in the autumn when winning back to back Grade Three handicaps over 1m4f and 1m5f (both on good). Handles cut in the ground and has won when fresh before, so should be a leading player in this.

Yet to win a Group Three but can be competitive in them as he showed when just a neck second at Epsom in June. Trip is more of a concern (has never won beyond 1m1f) and it will be no easier for him to get home with a bit of cut in the ground.

Former Listed winner who has quickly returned to form in two starts since being gelded earlier this year, making the frame in similar contests at both Goodwood (1m2f, good to firm) and Newmarket (1m4f, good to soft). Dropped 3lb in the ratings since then, but still looks to have each-way claims.

Both his wins have been on soft ground, one of them in Listed company, though has not added to that since October 2015. Not able to make a major impact in Listed company this year and others preferred today.

Held in both starts in Listed company so far, but they were when he was a juvenile and this is his first try at Group Three level. Has run well both starts this term in handicaps, winning at Sandown last time, but needs to take a significant step forward to be adding this to his CV.

Scored in Group Three company in France last year (1m1f, good) and not disgraced when 5L adrift of Permian in the Group Two King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot. Ran well in first-time blinkers in Listed company at Hamilton last time and headgear retained here. Another with each-way claims.

Unbeaten son of Pivotal who has looked progressive in three starts over this sort of trip. On the form book alone, he has got a fair bit to find, but he looks likely to be able to cope with this step up to Group company and can have a big say.

Won at this level last season at Newmarket (7f, good to firm). Handles good to soft and if he can return to the form he showed back at Newmarket in May, he might have a squeak, but this trip will ask questions of his stamina.

Forecasts

Laraaib (2/1), Mount Logan (6/1), Spark Plug (6/1), Francis Of Assisi (15/2), Frankuus (8/1), Autocratic (17/2), Ayrad (11/1), Euginio (14/1), Arthenus (14/1), Larchmont Lad (14/1), Baydar (16/1), Gabrial (25/1), Restorer (50/1)

Verdict

Laraaib will be popular with three wins to his name and of course he has to be taken very seriously here given his progressive profile. However, he still has it to prove at this level and AUTOCRATIC is preferred. Sir Michael Stoute's colt is already a Group Three winner this term and has may have too much class for this field. Ayrad has the ability, but needs to be at the top of his game to figure, while Francis Of Assisi, Spark Plug and Frankuus are others with claims.
