Attracted sustained market support on debut, and was a cosy 1L winner from Handy Hollow (at Stratford). Returns to another track which suits a test of speed, and the champion jockey takes over in the saddle as he bids to defy a 7lb penalty.

Son of Sixties Icon (cost £5,200 in January 2017), but has shown little obvious promise in two starts in bumpers to date and needs to take a big step forward.
Beaten over 7L when third to Spice Girl in a Stratford bumper in June, but that was a slight step forward from his Warwick debut in March. Others make more appeal.
Finished a distant fourth of six to Blue N Yellow on debut at Worcester last month and needs to show considerable improvement in order to be involved.

Has shown glimmers of ability in three starts in bumpers, with his best effort probably when fourth of six to Judge Earle at Sedgefield in early May. However, doesn't really look capable of breaking the duck at the fourth attempt and his future likely lies over hurdles.

10,000 gns yearling, and a seventh foal by Mount Nelson out of Local Abbey who has shown nothing in two starts in bumpers (at Sedgefield and Hexham). Blinkers applied.

Unraced stablemate of Yoredoingwell who was picked up cheaply as a four-year-old (£2,600). Her dam won a bumper and was also a half-sister to bumper winner Jenny's Gold, so conceivably this mare could have something to offer in this company.
Unraced mare by Rail Link who cost a meagre £800 as a yearling, and in truth is hardly bred for the National Hunt game. With a decent yard, but doesn't look an obvious first time out bumper winner.

Finished 7L third to Scottsdale on her second start in bumpers over C&D in June, but not at the same level at Southwell on her next start. Her stable can have winners in bumpers, but she needs to show much more in order to break her duck.

Tailed off last of eight to Vertigo in a Hexham bumper in October 2016 and hasn't been seen in action since. Wears first time cheek-pieces as she effectively starts out on her racing career all over again after a lengthy absence.

Forecasts

Soleglad (8/13), Strong Team (13/2), Lookforarainbow (8/1), Viognier (9/1), First Destination (10/1), Dizzy Chief (11/1), Pandinus Imperator (25/1), Aye Aye Enya (50/1), Wandaover (66/1), Yoredoingwell (100/1)

Verdict

SOLEGLAD could hardly have found an easier bumper in which to seek to defy a 7lb penalty. This recent well backed Stratford debut winner looks head and shoulders above this largely moderate bunch, and with the champion jockey Richard Johnson booked to do the steering, he should make it two from two at a track which will almost certainly play to his strengths (offers a test of speed rather than of stamina).
  1. Soleglad
  2. Strong Team
  3. Dizzy Chief
