Well-bred and expensive juvenile (£190,000) who kept on well to score at the first time of asking at Beverley (5f, good to firm) two weeks ago. Should only improve over this extra furlong but may have it to do conceding 6lb all round.

April foal who cost 110,000 guineas as a yearling. Just seemed to lack a change of gear when a well beaten third behind Major Peirson on his debut over C&D (good to firm) but bound to be sharper with a run under his belt.

A half-brother to the 1m winner Garrick out of a Group-winning dam. Plenty to like on paper and has to be respected, though jockey bookings suggest Oliver Reed carries the stable's main hopes.

Comes from a good family but clear signs of of temperament when restless in the stalls before he was eventually withdrawn ahead of an intended debut at Windsor. Possibly best watched with that in mind.

Out of a Listed placed dam, and debut run wasn't devoid of promise when beaten just over 3L behind subsequent winner Chatburn in a novice auction at Redcar (5f, good). Interesting to see blinkers quickly introduced after an eight week layoff.

Half-brother to numerous winners, including the 5f juvenile scorer Fortunately. Cost just €33,000 but holds an entry for next month's Group 1 Phoenix Stakes, so very much one to be interested in on his debut.

Cost just £6,000 and has only beaten one home in both starts when easy to back. Gelded since his last run but extremely hard to build a case for.

Bought for 35,000 guineas as a yearling but bred for middle-distances and readily outpaced in a race won by Boomerang Betty on his debut over 6f at Windsor (6f, good to firm). One for handicaps.

Cost 100,000 guineas as a yearling and heavily-backed for his debut over C&D recently but dropped away tamely after racing far too keenly. Something to find with Alkhalifa on that effort but likely there is much more to come and too early to be writing off.

Didn't come cheap at over 100,000 guineas but looked more of a long-term prospect lacking the pace to get involved in the same C&D maiden contested by both Alkhalifa and Oliver Reed earlier this month.

Forecasts

Oliver Reed (3/1), Ghayadh (7/2), Alkhalifa (4/1), Helvetian (5/1), Usher (6/1), City Gent (8/1), Global Academy (12/1), Bullingdon (14/1), Salsa Verde (20/1), Mountain Peak (25/1), Manco Inca (50/1)

Verdict

Ghayadh looked a decent prospect when scoring at Beverley on his debut and his pedigree suggests he's only going to improve over this longer trip but it may be a big ask to concede 6lb all round, particularly to HELVETIAN. Mick Channon's colt is a half-brother to several winners and is clearly held in high regard on the evidence of an entry to next month's Group 1 Pheonix Stakes. With the yard's juveniles going well, it would be no surprise to see him make a winning start, though Oliver Reed is a potential big improver.
