Won a Nottingham maiden (good to soft) over a similar trip in May but was then outfaced at Listed level at Carlisle (7f, good to soft) last time. Now goes handicapping from a tough enough mark and with top weight. Will probably need improvement to win.

Scored at Musselburgh in a five-runner contest last month, but couldn't ever really get competitive here over C&D last time in a better race than this. Was eased when beaten 17½L there but from the same mark today, despite the drop back to this class, he is going to need to do better.

Has a largely improving profile, picking up a win on his handicap debut at Nottingham (1m½f, good to soft) on his handicap debut, though beaten favourite here over C&D last time, when the ground may have been too quick for him. If the rains arrive to slow things down then he is very much still one to consider in this. Blinkers now fitted.

Landed a Kempton handicap (1m, AW) at 16-1 in November from 2lb lower than today. Held in both starts this term from 3lb higher and others preferred on this occasion.

Reappeared with a really good effort in a Wetherby maiden (1m, soft) last month, though perhaps the drop to 7f or the Tapeta were to blame for a disappointing run last time. Looks more attractively weighted than some for this return to 1m and turf on his handicap intro and could run a very big race.

Yet to break his duck but this looks to be his trip and he went well at Thirsk over it on Tuesday (good to firm) when a 2L runner-up in a first-time visor. Same mark today, so has an each-way shout again and he won't mind any rain.

Won a Lingfield maiden (7f, AW) 11 months ago after several good efforts in defeat, but has taken a while to come to hand this term in handicaps. Her best effort was here over C&D last time, though she still beat just one home. Apprentice now takes 5lb off her back, while the handicapper also drops her 2lb. Interesting.

Better drawn than his stablemate and showed bits of promise in three maidens so far this season , the last two under this pilot. The step up to 1m looks positive, while he has been given a squeak from this workable handicap mark. Given connections, a market check is strongly recommended.

Forecasts

Jumira Prince (13/8), Spirit Of Belle (7/2), Natajack (11/2), Thornton (6/1), Whatsthemessage (6/1), Habbad (7/1), Mac O'Polo (8/1), Fastar (10/1), Wigan Warrior (12/1), Conqueress (14/1), Best Of My Love (16/1), Oud Metha Bridge (16/1)

Verdict

Oud Metha Bridge should be able to show more now in this grade, while Wigan Warrior would be an apt winner, but will need to raise his game to do so. Handicap newcomer Mac O'Polo needs a market check given the record of his trainer/jockey combi at this venue and may go very well along with stablemate Conqueress. Whatsthemessage, Natajack and Thornton are other leading contenders in an open finale, but with rain forecast, JUMIRA PRINCE might just have sufficient sting taken out of the surface to perform at his best and in first-time blinkers he can again come home in front.
