Was flying too high last time out at Royal Ascot in the Queen Anne when he was a 50/1 shot and he'll be much more at home in this company having won a Listed race before. In fact he started his season with a Listed win at Doncaster over a mile and has also run well in a Group 3 at Epsom subsequently and very much a player here based on those efforts.

12/1
C&D winner who is up to winning and performing well in this grade and ran a sound race when third in a handicap last time to Viscount Barfield at York over 7f off a mark of 104. Often leads so this wide draw won't help and that could be his downfall here despite his good run last time.

Well drawn but does look to have a tough task at the weights and his last two runs have hardly been inspiring and he nearly refused to race last time. Hard to see him winning given the task he faces here plus his attitude.

Gained his first win for a while here last year over slightly further off what was a falling mark before managing to follow-up twice once over the same trip and completed the hat-trick with a Listed win over 6f. Shaped nicely here last time out and will be dangerous to all if he can get into the lead from his draw and make the best of his way home around a course he loves.

Another who found the Queen Anne too tough a test last time out but had earlier shown that he was quite capable of running well at this level and slightly higher. Showed his best form when second at Haydock in a Group 2 over 7f and nicely berthed here to track the pace and strike late on.

Blinkers go on for the first time and the jockey booking is a very interesting one (rides Chester well). Ran right up to his best last time out at Newmarket in a Group 3 over 7f and looks nicely in at the weights here and looks as though he'll be one of the leading players.

Course winner over slightly further at the May meeting here coming from off a strong pace to win off a mark of 98. Ridden totally differently over the same C&D last time out when doing too much too soon and passed over here up in grade.

Certainly produced a career best effort last time out when winning off a mark of 90 at York enjoying the strong pace to aim at and winning well. He rarely runs a poor race although he is up in grade here around a course that he's won at before and may be able to run into a place.

Really thrived last season and won three times (once here) but that good run of form has seen her mark rise and life looks hard in handicaps now. She deserves a chance at this level although she might not quite be up to it and others are in better shape to take this.

Won her last two starts in Ireland over 6f and 7f and is clearly in good form at the moment without giving any indication that she is up to this grade. Looks as though she could have been given an easier opportunity to complete her hat-trick.

Forecasts

Jungle Cat (11/10), Jallota (10/3), Kool Kompany (7/1), Hillbilly Boy (9/1), Salateen (12/1), Viscount Barfield (20/1), Sound Advice (20/1), Breakable (28/1), Orangey Red (33/1), Canny Kool (66/1)

Verdict

Quite a few in this have good form in this sort of company and were probably too highly tried last time out like Kool Kompany and Jallota who both faced Group 1 tests and will be happier back in this grade. Hillbilly Boy always needs respecting around here especially if he can get to the front while both Salateen and Viscount Barfield deserve a try in this grade after running sound races in good handicaps. JUNGLE CAT is the most interesting contender with Franny Norton booked and his second in a Group 3 last time out reads well in the context of this race.
  1. Jungle Cat
  2. Jallota
  3. Hillbilly Boy
