Ripon winner earlier in the year over this trip for a yard that are always to be respected with their sprinters. She's run two consistent races after that win off higher marks although she has looked awkward at the start on both occasions and that might be something to watch here and is a slight negative.

Broke a long losing run last time out when well-in at the weights scoring over 6f at Bath on very quick ground capitalising on a drop in grade. Pushed back up in grade here from a higher mark and that makes life tough for her here.

The winner of a 7f maiden at Newmarket when under the Godolphin banner she was sold to this yard for 52,000 guineas and has had just the one run for them. That also came at Newmarket over 7f and she looked badly in need in that run and is now eased a further 2lb in the handicap. Hard to know what to expect yet and best watched from a wide draw.

Capable handicapper who has won eight times and started this season in good fashion with a win off a mark of 82 over 6f at Pontefract when reportedly in foal. She has won and run well off higher marks in the past and she still looked in good form last time out when fourth back at Pontefract (not ideally placed/better than final position) and should run well here with a good pace to chase.

Generally likes to go forward and is well berthed to do so from stall three having already won twice this year over 5f. Given her penultimate start here though there is a slight doubt as to whether this track suits her although that was over 5f and she tries over further now although she has never won at the trip.

Showed some decent form as a juvenile and looks to be running into form judged on her last run at York where she was second to the progressive Golden Apollo over 6f. Given a 5lb rise for that she's not well drawn today and that may make it difficult for her to build on that very creditable effort.

Her only win in a light career so far came here over 5f in softer conditions than she will face today. Certainly built on and improved on her debut this year in a Pontefract handicap over 6f last time out but although the handicapper is starting to have some mercy on her the mark of 85 still looks a little on the high side.

Has a very good win-to-run ratio (4/11) and made up for an unlucky run around here over 6f in May with a win last time out over 5f at Nottingham on quick ground off a 3lb lower mark. Still looks a progressive sort and showed in her previous defeat here that she could be effective at this trip and looks a danger to all from a good draw.

Twice a winner as juvenile once over C&D she once again showed that she likes this C&D when winning here in May from a favourable draw under a text book Chester ride with the visor on for the first time. That was in a lower grade but she showed that she could cope with this class last time out at York when finishing fourth (just in front of Queen In Waiting and two placed behind Southern Belle) in first-time blinkers. Well drawn to attack again off the same mark and must be one of the leading hopes here.

Forecasts

Pixeleen (4/1), Queen In Waiting (4/1), Rose Berry (9/2), Turanga Leela (5/1), Avon Breeze (7/1), Southern Belle (8/1), The Wagon Wheel (10/1), Hope Solo (20/1), Clear Water (33/1)

Verdict

An intriguing contest with Turanga Leela closely matched with several of these and looking to confirm the form with the luckless ROSE BERRY whom she beat two starts ago when getting the run of the race. It looks to be close between those two again with Rose Berry given every chance of reversing the form with a better run through this time. But it’s not all about those two with Queen In Waiting (if she handles the track better) and The Wagon Wheel (poor draw) also holding chances although those negatives are handing over them. Of the older brigade both Southern Belle and Avon Breeze have been in good form with the latter the pick of that duo given her two runs this year.
  1. Rose Berry
  2. Turanga Leela
  3. Avon Breeze
