Last four starts have all been here at Stratford, and clearly handles the track well. Jumped really well when winning here in May but couldn't follow up from 9lb higher last time. May find this ground a little lively but that aside, still holds chances in a weakish event.

Proven on the track, and was a winner here last season (4lb higher today) but not seen out since finishing well beaten at Taunton in January. Can go okay fresh, so absence not an issue, and likely conditions fine. Not discounted.

Seemed to rather lose his way for Alan King but seemed to be rejuvenated for the change of scenery when second at Southwell on debut for the yard, leading and sticking to the task well once headed by a well-handicapped rival. Repeat of that puts him in the firing line here.

Winner at Sedgefield under similar conditions to today last year, but handicapper slow to relent despite some moderate efforts since. well beaten over hurdles latest start and hard to know what to expect today. Others hold stronger claims.

Rattled off a three-timer in late 2015 but no win since, and has ground to make up on Altepix on their run here in May. Better ground and an 8lb turnaround in the weights offer him some hope, and he can't be discounted here.

Handles most ground and effective from 2m-3m, so has some plus points, but recent form uninspiring and he never got in the hunt at Worcester latest. The sort to pop up from nowhere though, and is on a good mark, so can't be totally ruled out.

Forecasts

Altiepix (7/4), McCabe Creek (3/1), Degooch (9/2), Dragon's Den (6/1), Helium (8/1), Tindaro (12/1)

Verdict

Not easy, and some sort of case can be made for all six. The vote goes to MCCABE CREEK , who put in a good shift at Southwell on his debut for the yard and hopefully he can build on that here. Altepix is doing little wrong but may find the drying ground against him, so preference for the runner-up spot goes to Tindaro, who may be best caught fresh these days.
  1. Mccabe Creek
  2. Tindaro
  3. Altiepix
