Sir Percy gelding that didn't show much on debut, but should be better for the experience here. Looks one more for the long term though, and only of interest if strong in the market.

Yard not really known for 2-y-o winners and this one hasn't shown enough in two starts to think she's going to pose a threat here. Needs this for a handicap mark and may be one more for nurseries later in the year.

Yard have a 14% strike rate with their 2-y-o's here, and although this daughter if Mastercraftsman will do better over a bit further, there's every chance she will be handle the likely underfoot conditions on her debut. Any money for her needs noting.

Piccolo filly that has only beaten one horse home in two starts to date, although not totally disgraced at Catterick last time and this step up in trip may help. Still looks one for handicaps after this though, so others easily preferred.
Dandy Man filly for whom this trip will probably be a minimum on breeding (half-sister to the useful hurdler Time For Action) and yard don't have many debut 2-y-o- winners (1-4 here at Doncaster last 5 seasons). Best watched unless strong in the market.

Dutch Art filly that's bred to have a bit of speed, and will probably handle likely ground conditions, but yard are 0-31 with first time out 2-y-o's over the past year and then tend to progress with time. Others readily preferred.

Acclamation filly that fetched 55,000 guineas at the sales last year, turned in a decent debut effort when staying on nicely to take fourth at Newmarket. Ground there was on the slow side, so should handle conditions and this extra furlong looks a positive. Holds a solid chance if building on that.

Price rose considerably at sales last year, purchased by current connections for £130,000 and bred to be decent. Yard have excellent strike rate with first time up 2-y-o's so if handling ground conditions, likely to be a player in an event not that strong on paper. Watch the market.

Forecasts

Model (11/8), Sultanaa (2/1), Zoffinia (4/1), Gemologist (10/1), Pearl's Calling (16/1), Ruysch (20/1), Mops Tango (40/1), Harbour Rose (50/1)

Verdict

Probably not too many to consider, and SULTANAA would look the one if she can take another step forward from a very solid debut effort at Newmarket. That looked a decent race on paper and she is taken to get off the mark. It may well be that newcomers Zoffinia and Model give her the most to think about, with the Fahey filly just given the nod for the silver medal.
  1. Sultanaa
  2. Zoffinia
  3. Model
