Won with a fair amount in hand at Lingfield last time and still seemingly improving. Carries a 6lb penalty and may be able to handle that rise but she has proved more effective on the AW than turf in recent times and unproven in soft conditions.

Won a Kempton maiden in February but struggled a little in handicaps since. Not beaten far at Nottingham last time but hard to imagine he's particularly well-handicapped on what he has shown so far.

Ended a 30-race losing streak with a win at Wolverhampton last time and went close the time before at Kempton. Majority of his wins have come on the AW and his best efforts on turf have come on fast ground; opposable despite being on a very fair mark and will be of more interest when returned to the AW.

Struggled off his revised mark after winning back-to-back races on the AW in January but back down to a more feasible mark now. High draw not usually a negative on the sprint course and he has shown bits of form in softer conditions so can't be dismissed.

Only win on turf came on soft ground and back below his last winning mark now. Very disappointing in three efforts this year though, including when sent off favourite at Chepstow last time. Not won for nearly a year now and needs to show more signs of encouragement.

C&D winner who is a bit of a hit and miss performer but stayed on to win in game fashion at Lingfield last time and very dangerous when allowed to lead on the front end. Should go well again from just 1lb higher but has had the occasional starting stalls issue in the past.

Better horse on the AW than he is on turf but he is effective in faster conditions, as seen when runner-up at Salisbury last time. Won't get anything like those conditions here and wide draw not ideal; looks opposable for now.

Didn't show too much on handicap debut at Lingfield last time and remains on the same mark now, but perhaps the drop in trip by a furlong could help, as well as the return to turf from a synthetic surface having run well in softer conditions on debut at Windsor.

12-race maiden but went close from out of the handicap at Lingfield last time and has previously shown some form in softer conditions. Not a straightforward type (has stalls issues and races keenly) but signs she was getting her act together last time and may be able to build on that.

Forecasts

Deeds Not Words (4/1), Curious Fox (9/2), Langley Vale (9/2), Artscape (5/1), Mad Endeavour (6/1), Captain Bob (7/1), Air Of York (15/2), Hurricane Rock (8/1), Showmethewayavrilo (10/1), Hamish Mcgonagain (11/1), Flying Sakhee (14/1), Fantasy Justifier (20/1), Gung Ho Jack (20/1)

Verdict

CAPTAIN BOB finally got back to winning ways last time out and he's taken to build on that success with a win here. Deeds Not Words is no doubt the main danger as he seeks to record a hat-trick. Hamish Mcgonagain has worked his way down to a more realistic mark and may be able to run a place at what is likely to be a big price.
  1. Captain Bob
  2. Deeds Not Words
  3. Hamish Mcgonagain
