Cork bumper winner two seasons ago, but nothing since, and has already looked regressive on recent starts. Needs to turn his form around to hold a chance, even in a weak race. Wouldn't want any rain either.

Breeding suggests he'll do better once going over a little further, but will have learnt plenty from his debut in a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle last month (good race for the grade) and if building on that, could get involved. Market may guide.

Not going anywhere fast on his last few hurdles efforts, and no better for going handicapping either. Looks to have too much on and others readily preferred.
Might find this trip a stretch on breeding, and yard not known for first-time out winners. Makes little appeal.

In good form at present and quietly progressive in the spring, going close at Cork (over this trip) and building on previous efforts. The more rain the better and looks a leading candidate in a race that might not take much winning.
Showed a bit of ability on hurdles debut at Naas in January but failed to build on that at Punchestown on latest start, finishing weakly. Bit to prove after that but not totally discounted as improvement likely at some stage.
Some useful hurdlers/chasers in the family if you go back far enough and he might be up to winning something down the line, but others make more appeal on his debut today.

Tongue tie applied for the first time today might help the situation, but it'll have to have a major effect as he's not shown enough to think he's going to get near the principals today.

Winner on the Flat for Andrew Balding last July, looks to have a future at the hurdling game based on his two efforts to date, and this step up in trip looks worth a try on the way he's stayed on late both times. Improving and if staying the trip, looks sure to be involved.

Shown little in five runs so far, although best effort to date came on the Flat at Cork last time out. Needs huge improvement here.

Forecasts

Vanishing Point (13/8), Aherlow (5/2), Conna Cross (7/2), Louie The Second (6/1), Walkers Point (16/1), Alamgiyr (33/1), Charlie Brown (50/1), Lucky Robin (50/1), Mister Minor (66/1), Mister Buddy (100/1)

Verdict

Not a strong event and only a handful to consider. CONNA CROSS won't mind how much rain falls and stays the trip well, so has more going for her than a few here, and can get on the scoresheet. Aherlow wouldn't need much more improvement on her debut sixth at Fairyhouse to get involved and he and Vanishing Point, who has a slight question mark as far as this trip goes, can contest the places.
  1. Conna Cross
  2. Aherlow
  3. Vanishing Point
