Bids to land this for the third year running. This may be a stronger renewal than either of those contests, however a reproduction of his latest run on Boxing Day would be good enough to see him home here. His stable continue in good form.
He is a nice young horse who has done everything that has been asked of him. Form falls short of what is required but his current rate of improvement suggests he could be a surprise package.
Smart novice hurdler two seasons ago who has been off the course 16 months following a successful debut over fences. Has gone well fresh previously but has yet to face such illustrious company.
The 8lb he receives from The New One could make this interesting. Not disgraced in a Grade Two event at Cheltenham on New Year's Day,however that was over two and a half miles. Tactics will be interesting as there are others in this race with more obvious speed.

The New One (6/4), L'Ami Serge (13/8), Irving (6/1), Clyne (9/1), Cyrus Darius (16/1)
THE NEW ONE has made heavy weather of landing the last two runnings of this when a long odds-on favourite. He forced Yarnworth to pull out all the stops at Kempton on Boxing Day and there is nothing of that calibre in opposition here. L'Ami Serge will be he one to benefit should he fail to deliver. The more testing the ground the better his chances and the weight allowance from THE NEW ONE could be decisive. Irving lost his way following a C&D win here last season. A hard fought victory on his reappearance suggests he is back and will make his presence felt.
