Took this race in 2013 but has failed to win over hurdles since. Retains ability but his appetite for a battle looks questionable and his recent form suggests he has a lot to find if he is to add to his trainer's fine record in this event.
Runner-up in this race twice and has won on his other three visits to the track. Proved he was as good as ever last time and another bold show is anticipated. Eight-year-olds have a poor record in this and he does look vulnerable to one of the younger generation.
Had to dig deep to win on his reappearance when not fully fit. His best form has been shown over further but he possesses plenty of speed and oozes class. In a race which could prove tactical he has all the tools to take this.
Yet to win a race under rules and will surely not be breaking his duck this afternoon.
Forecasts
Yanworth (5/4), The New One (13/8), My Tent Or Yours (4/1), Ch'tibello (14/1), Gray Wolf River (100/1)
The absence of Vroom Vroom Mag opens this up for YARNWORTH to advertise his Champion Hurdle credentials. The drop in distance is a question mark but his class and turn of foot are expected to prove decisive. The New One always runs well here but his front-running style and previous record at this level suggests he may be vulnerable to an up and coming rival. It is difficult to argue with what My Tent Or Yours has achieved in the past. Nevertheless he has been found wanting in recent battles and he looks set to play a supporting role here with Barry Geraghty preferring the selection.
1. Yanworth
