David Massey struck with a 10/1 winner on Saturday to continue a great run of form for our Punting Pointers team - don't miss his Sunday best.
12.56 Leicester - Watar Allstar
A 0-100 handicap chase where the top in is rated just 89? *rubs hands and cackles*
Yes, this is just the sort of race I like having a look at, and it goes without saying that anything with half an ounce of improvement left to come ought to be taken seriously, so step forward the giant Watar Allstar from Zoe Davison’s West Sussex yard.
Given his size, it’s no surprise he’s taken plenty of time to come to himself, but he ran his best race when just failing to grab second at Stratford last time in a race where the first two were in those positions throughout. He looked ill at ease on the tight track at Stratford, tending to lug to the inside as he got tired, but he kept on well, and will be happier on a track with a long straight, which he gets here. A repeat of his Stratford effort will put him in the mix, but I’d hope he can improve a fair bit on that given his profile.
3.31 Leicester - Roseisaroseisarose
Katy Price’s Roseisaroseisarose was pretty highly tried in bumpers last season, taking in a couple of Listed events and was far from disgraced in either of them, having the useful Cill Anna behind her a couple of times, and she’s been finding her feet over hurdles as she gets fitter this autumn, with improvement coming from run to run.
Her best effort to date came when third on her latest start at Ffos Las, where she found the drop to 2m against her, getting outpaced behind winner Estelle Ma Belle, but staying on again on the run in. The bare form makes her only moderately treated, but the winner ran well in the Listed mares’ hurdle at Newbury on Saturday, and the step up in trip will definitely aid her cause, so there’s every reason to expect an improved effort on ground that will pose her no problems.
3.13 Ffos Las - Lex Talionis
Lex Talionis can hardly be described as prolific, with a return of just two wins from 42 starts, but he’s dropped a long way in the handicap after a barren spell for Charlie Mann, and there was definitely more spark about his latest effort when fourth at Sedgefield, beaten just under ten lengths in a better race than this. That came after wind surgery and on his first start for the in-form Oliver Greenall yard, and he looks capable of turning the corner. Greenall has had four winners from his last ten runners under NH rules, and another beckons here.
He’s been found a weak contest today, and although 3m is probably a bare minimum for him, the soft ground should make this enough of a stamina test.
