Report
American trainer Wesley Ward did the business for a second successive day at Royal Ascot when Con Te Partiro won the Sandringham Handicap.
Not content with having pocketed the King's Stand Stakes with Lady Aurelia on Tuesday before saddling the runner-up in the Queen Mary earlier on Wednesday, Ward struck handicap gold in this one-mile Listed race for fillies.
Connections of the 20/1 victor owe a huge debt of gratitude to Jamie Spencer, who delivered one his trademark rides from off a rapid pace.
Ryan Moore looked to have timed his fractions nicely on runner-up Rain Goddess, who was well-backed throughout the day, but he had not counted on the late burst of Con Te Partiro, who won by a length and a quarter.
Paco's Angel was third, with Queen Of Time fourth.
Reaction
Wesley Ward: "That was unbelievable and an unbelievable ride again, I've got to give it to Jamie - I don't want to tell you all the horrible names I was calling him in the first part of the race but he sure did have the magic at the end!
"I did leave it up to him after he worked her the other day, I just told him her running style, he did a wonderful job."
Jamie Spencer: "It's a big week for everyone and it's nice to get a winner. I wanted to drop her in but she flew the stalls like a typical American and it took me a furlong and a half to get cover. Wesley just told me to ride her like I own her.
"She'd popped out in her races in America and it was just a case of whether she stayed. I followed Ryan on Rain Goddess, he went right and I went left.
"Just a shame I had to beat him as Ryan introduced me to Wesley."
