The Godolphin team enjoyed their third winner of the day in the Windsor Castle Stakes as Sound And Silence (16-1) led home stablemate Roussel.
The Charlie Appleby-trained pair traded blows all the way to the line and it was Sound And Silence who gained victory by a neck in the hands of William Buick.
Buick was completing a double following his earlier victory on Ribchester in the Queen Anne Stakes.
Reaction
William Buick: "That was a great result. Charlie and myself have always held him in high regard and he showed up really early as a natural. He won very well at Newmarket and we were scratching our head after Sandown (fourth in National Stakes).
"Charlie nursed him back, he's been working nicely and I thought he was really good there. Charlie's got the one-two and they are two nice horses. He's a real speedster, I don't think he wants six furlongs yet.
"The horses have been in great nick all year and they've had a great preparation. Royal Ascot is very important, but you've got to do the same as you do every day.
Charlie Appleby: "Coming into today we always knew the two-year-olds were in great order and the team had done a fantastic job. We've been very lucky the way the horses have come into the meeting.
"I was disappointed with him in the National Stakes as he just emptied out, but when we scoped him afterwards he had a dirty scope so we put a line through that.
"We put cheekpieces on as it was a big day and I didn't want to take chances. William said they couldn't go quick enough and he had to take him back, but he galloped out strongly.
"He'll stay at five (furlongs) and go to Goodwood next for the Molecomb. I'm also pleased with the other lad as that was just his second start since coming from the breeze-ups. We eased off him after winning Leicester and let him come to himself."
