Top commentator Simon Holt previews day one of the July Festival at Newmarket with Guineas also-ran Al Suhail fancied to bounce back.
2000 GUINEAS also-ran AL SUHAIL could be worth another chance in the Listed Bahrain International Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday.
This represents quite a drop in class for the Godolphin team-member who was fresh leaving the stalls on his return in last month's colts classic and then appeared to lose his action running down into the dip before being eased off.
On his form of last season, Al Suhail, who was narrowly beaten on his debut at this meeting 12 months ago, has more obvious claims. After an easy odds-on win at Yarmouth, he chased home Positive and Kameko in the Solario Stakes at Sandown before going under by half a length to the Guineas fourth Military March in the Autumn Stakes over this distance of a mile.
William Buick will be at pains to get him switched off in the early stages here but he sets a high standard on official ratings and recent winners Lord Campari and Magical Morning will probably need to find plenty of improvement to beat him if he can return to his best.
Earlier, NAHAARR can build on his Royal Ascot third last time to take the Price Promise at bet365 Handicap.
William Haggas's four-year-old was well backed for the Silver Wokingham and looked like the best horse in the race when cantering into the lead under James Doyle nearly two furlongs out.
However, he was probably in front a bit too long and appeared to be out-stayed by Chiefofchiefs and Burmese Waltz in the final few strides.
Paired with Tom Marquand now, a more restrained ride can confirm the promise of that effort.
The most competitive race of the day is the bet365 Handicap in which track bias with 20 runners spread across the course could play a part.
Recent Chelmsford winner Sunset Breeze looks best of those drawn low but there are more fancied runners drawn high towards the stands side and, with a bit of luck, DANCIN INTHESTREET can gain a deserved win.
Again trained by William Haggas, this daughter of Muhaarar was unfortunate not to win at Haydock first time out and again didn't get the clearest of passages before making eye-catching late headway into third behind the smart Art Power at Royal Ascot.
Both those efforts were over five furlongs but Dancin inthestreet has won over six furlongs at Lingfield and looks likely to be well suited by some extra ground here with Cieran Fallon taking off 3lb at the foot of the handicap.
