Simon Holt best bets for Pontefract and Kempton on Wednesday

Simon Holt has cast his eye over Wednesday's action and has a couple of bets picked out, including a strong stayer who should find Pontefract to his liking.

Recommended bets

2pts win Seinesational at 8/1 in 3.20 Pontefract

2pts win Karibana at 9/1 in 5.30 at Kempton

Two miles and a furlong with an uphill finish at Pontefract demands plenty of stamina and SEINESATIONAL can make his staying power count in the Napoleons Casino Bradford Handicap on Wednesday.

The five-year-old can sometimes look a bit quirky but he boasts a decent win rate and was in good form for much of last season, scoring first time out at Wolverhampton in April and again at Sandown in June.

Later, he ran a mighty race in the two-and-a-half mile Goodwood Handicap at the course's Festival meeting in July, failing by a neck to hold off the progressive Timoshenko.

Just 2lb higher for that effort, Seinesational looks well enough weighted in a race that seems likely to suit him, and his now Newmarket-based trainer William Knight struck with Sir Busker at Newcastle last week while stable stalwart Noble Gift ran well at Kempton.

On another extremely competitive-looking day, KARIBANA has decent form claims in the Unibet Thanks The Frontline Workers Handicap at Kempton.

The Richard Hughes-trained colt has run very consistently so far in four starts and his most recent effort when fourth at Wolverhampton (6f) in March has been well boosted by the second, Meraas, and third, Never Dark, who were both winners last week.

Karibana was prominent all the way that evening and the pace was probably a bit too strong, allowing the relatively unfancied Aweemaweh to come through late from an unpromising position.

Karibana will need to show a bit of early pace to overcome stall 11 here but seemed to stay this trip well when beaten a half length at Chelmsford on his previous start. Indeed, he is bred to get a mile and hails from a stable in good form.
