The five-year-old had been struggling to recapture his useful juvenile hurdle form but looked transformed by the switch to fences at Warwick earlier in the month when he jumped fluently all the way and won eased down.

An 11lb rise in the ratings will certainly make life harder here, though King D'Argent is still 4lb lower than when fourth in the Fred Winter at the 2019 Cheltenham Festival and will take some beating if putting in a similar round.
