Top commentator Simon Holt previews Sunday's racing with two selections put up at Kelso including Bigirononhiship.
Warren Greatrex enjoyed a welcome winner with Portrush Ted at Sandown on Friday and can strike again with MAHLERVOUS in the Mrs Ivan Straker Paris Pike Novices Chase at Kelso on Sunday.
A course winner over hurdles, as well as at Ayr, the seven-year-old clearly enjoys the Scottish air and ran a taking race over fences at Sandown last month when going under narrowly to the promising Severano who followed up at Exeter on Friday.
This is a step up in distance for Mahlervous but he battled on well up the Sandown hill and looks in need of a stiffer test over fences.
Greatrex is double handed with Bob Mahler and Gangster in the Persimmon Homes Scottish Borders National Handicap Chase but last year’s winner BIGIRONONHISHIP is fancied to follow up despite a rise in the weights.
Rose Dobbin’s gelding hasn’t stood a great deal of racing but is a talented stayer who can confirm the placings with last year’s nine length runner-up Just Your Type even on 11lb worse terms.
That is a big weights turnaround but Bigirononhiship was a very decisive winner that day and shaped extremely well when second over just three miles on his reappearance at Ayr.
