Warren Greatrex is leaning towards the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown on April 28 as the next port of call for Cheltenham Festival winner Missed Approach.
The Grade Three contest is one of two races, alongside the Coral Scottish Grand National at Ayr, under consideration for the eight-year-old, who provided the Lambourn handler with his second Festival success with victory in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup.
Greatrex said: "He has come out of the race well. There is not a nick on him. He is fresh and he seems all good. There are two options - either the Scottish National, which he ran in last year, or the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown. I think we might favour the bet365 as that might be more his bag. If he goes quiet and I don't think he is right that will be him done for the season but I think he will be all right."
Stablemate Western Ryder finished sixth in the Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle and could step up to two and a half miles for the Betway Mersey Novices' Hurdle at Aintree on April 14.
Greatrex said: "Western Ryder ran a cracker in the Supreme, especially considering he was virtually stopped to a standstill at two out. He was the fastest-finishing horse and he didn't have a hard time. I think he would have been in the first four if he wasn't stopped.
"We looked at two and a half at Cheltenham, but we went two miles because of the ground. If the ground dries out, two and a half miles round there should be spot on for him."
