Richard Hughes Stable Tour

Stable star: Top Breeze

Horse to follow: Brentford Hope

Three-year-old to follow: Maori Knight

Brentford Hope

I’m delighted with him and he looks stronger than last year and has wintered really well. He was impressive in his maiden at Newmarket and I’m looking forward to getting going with him once the season starts. He’s being talked of as a Derby horse but he’d need to win his trial first to be one of those.

Brunel Charm

He won first time up at Kempton but was then a little disappointing at Lingfield. I decided to run him back quickly a week later at the same track and he ran a nice race to finish second. I think he’ll enjoy some cut in the ground, so we’ll wait for that and start him off over a mile.

Calling The Wind

Has run well for us the last couple of times, winning at Southwell and then finishing second at Kempton. He’s very lightly-raced on the turf and I think he’ll enjoy the ground when it’s on the soft side. His ideal trip is a mile-and-a-half or a little further.

Caspian Queen

I’m hoping she’ll be a decent sprinter for us this season. We trained her earlier on last season and she won a couple of times for us. She's back with us again and we’ll see where we go with her once the season starts.

Lady Lynetta

I think she’s quite a nice filly and did well to win on her final start of the season, a big field maiden at Newmarket over seven furlongs. I think she’s fairly well handicapped off a mark of 80 and she might get up to ten furlongs.

Maori Knight

Ran well enough on his first two starts but was then really impressive winning at Chelmsford in February. I’ll be looking to step him up in trip as I think he’ll get a mile-and-a-half in time.

Old News

He’s had a little wind op over the winter and is a decent horse on fast ground. He won on good to firm at Windsor on debut and then only got chance to run on a fast surface once after, finishing a close third back at the same track.

Ptarmigan Ridge

He’s had a few problems but hopefully he’s OK now. He appreciates soft ground and seems to save his best form for Chester and Haydock, so we may be in the north west with him a few times this year.

Puds

She’ll be sprinting again and ran a career best last time out in a very decent conditions race at Wolverhampton. She ran a couple of good races at Goodwood last season, finishing second twice.

Punting

She’s a nice filly who won on her second start at Wolverhampton, doing it quite nicely. I think she has ability and will get a mile-and-a-half.

Summeronsevenhills

Finished off last year with two victories on the all-weather. He has gone up a fair bit in the weights for those two wins. He’s a good, honest horse who we’ll try over a mile-and-a-half at some point in the season.

Sir Oliver

A full-brother to Meccas Angel. He won his maiden in February at Kempton. He’s a nice fast horse and will be good fun for his owners.

Top Breeze

He’s a very fast little horse who won well at Lingfield. He actually blew up in the last 100 yards but managed to hold on. He wasn’t the soundest last year but I think we’ve got him back to where we want him now. I think he’s still well handicapped and I’m looking forward to getting him out.

Waddat

He just keeps improving for us. I don’t know how much more he can find but he has won three consecutive races and is very tough.
