Mr Lupton is among Richard Fahey's team on Friday - check out our star columnist's thoughts on his Newmarket and Lingfield runners.
12:55 Lingfield - Patsy Fagan
Another two-year-old of mine who might just need the run. He’s produced some decent work but hasn’t been away for a gallop which they sometimes need to put the finishing touches to them. Still if he does the job right he could run a big race.
1.30 Lingfield – Brutal Lion
Six furlongs will suit this colt and like Pasty Fagan in the opener he goes well enough at home. He’ll be better for the run, like most of our juveniles but is a good, hardy horse and another who can go well if he handles the track.
2.05 Lingfield – Amaysmont
I’m a little worried about the track for this horse, it’s not one I’d pick for him. He’s a big, rangy horse who has progressed well over the winter. He’ll go well if taking to the place.
2.25 Newmarket – Mr Lupton
I’ve always said he’s probably just below Group class but then he won a Group Two last year in Ireland which made things tough for him for the rest of the year. The plan is to go for the Wokingham and I wanted a run first. He can go well on his reappearance though and is in great order.
4.25 Lingfield – Silver Dust
He got his head in front at Kempton just before lockdown. It was nice to see him win and it’s a shame we’ve had to wait to go again. I just hope he hasn’t forgotten what he did last time. If he hasn’t he has a chance.
5.35 Lingfield – National League
He’s been working nicely and did very well over the winter. I’m just a little concerned six furlongs might be sharp enough for him at Lingfield. He’ll go up to seven in the future but you just get in where you can at the moment.
5.35 Lingfield – Kidda
Some of his form is rock solid but I think he’ll need to improve to win this. We’ll see how he goes.
5.55 Newmarket – George Bowen
He completely lost his way last backend. If he comes back to his best we all know what he can do. We tried to keep him off fast ground for a long time but then he won on it twice. It would be good to see him run a big race.
